I need some help

Apr 16, 2009

I am really discouraged about my journey since my gallbladder surgery.  I have gained a few pounds and seem to be stuck there.  I would like to say it's because of the trail mix I'm addicted to, but that's not it.  I would like to say it's the Easter candy I have been downing, but that's not it either.  It's like there's an emptiness in me that I'm trying to fill with food and can't find the right food to fill it.  My eating has really gone to the dogs.  I go see my nurse practitioner tomorrow and want to discuss it with her.  I did determine that while on Spring Break, I was going to slow down from the chaos of my life and address this.  I found a great group on here, Back on Track Together, which I joined and hopefully will help me refocus.  I live 2 hours away from my surgeon's support group but think I'll make another hard effort to find one in Florence.  My step-sister's death and the news of the death of a college roommate's husband weigh heavy on me.  I have a little more than a month in school before summer break and it's always hectic then.  I just want out of this slump!

Where does the time go?

Mar 21, 2009

I have been MIA on here for months, and I can't believe it's been that long!  Life has a way of getting in the way of the things we do for ourselves.  Spring semester and 2 new classes (CNAs and EMTs), baseball season for 2 sons at 2 different high schools, father terminally ill in Ohio, student HOSA competition, and husband all over the globe with the military. I miss my friends here and am going to make a concerted effort to get here more often.  I'm not losing any weight with all this chaos..only my mind.  Thankfully, the sun's starting to peak out more and more often so my activity has definately increased.  Between walking the halls for clinical and walking around the school with the afternoon students, I'm getting walking in.  I've started working on my flower beds (I know, just getting started) and the pool (which turned a horrid green this week) so things are improving.  It's so lovely to be able to walk and move without pain.  To be able to put on panty-hose without breaking a sweat.  Now, if I could just get my hair to grow back in!  It's still falling out!

ONDERLAND!!

Jan 20, 2009

I'm there!  Onederland..woohoo!  I politely informed my DH I now weigh less than I did when we were married.  This has been a great day.  We were blessed with 3 inches of snow today...in the South near the coast..we had snow!  The children were out of school today and will be delayed 2 hours tomorrow because it's going to freeze and everything will be slippery.  Southerners do not know how to drive in snow and ice..  And, on top of every other good thing, my DH is cooking supper.  Ahhh, what a day!

I love not having a gallbladder!

Jan 19, 2009

I have to say, I wish they had taken this thing out with my RNY!  I had surgery Friday and went to church Sunday.  I worked 4 hours today doing paper work getting my class ready for the substitute tomorrow and I feel great!  The best thing is, the weight is coming off again at a nice clip and NO MIRALAX!!!  Woohoooooo!  My abdomen looks like a connect-the-dots puzzle from the RNY, gallbladder, and the bonus prize of a fallopian tube cyst that was removed with the gallbladder.  But hey, I feel great!  Any suggestions from my friends for diet modifications are always welcome.  I will be on Onederland by tomorrow hopefully!!!

Holiday baking

Dec 25, 2008

I am afraid I am being attacked by the Holiday Baking Elves!  My mother and sister both created some delicious confections which were divine.  Luckily, my 4 children have eaten most of them, but I was oh so tempted by my mom's apple walnut cake..yummy!  I was 2 pounds from Onederland on Dec.24. Today, I am 4..sigh.  However, back on track.  I'm thankful the weather is disgustingly warm and I'm having no trouble taking walks outside.  I was having gallbladder issues a few weeks ago and learned I have a large gallstone, but I've been painfree since then and as my surgeon's office has been slower than molasses in winter about calling me back, I'll  be content to wait for surgery until after the holidays!   I did get some pics made at Mom's and I iwll get them loaded on here today.  My brother in law asked me yesterday if I was drying up..woohoo!  I can wear regular size clothes!!!  I am so grateful and thankful for my surgery and the health I've had restored.  I actually sat on the floor yesterday without pain!  Thank you, Lord!

Stall if finally over!

Dec 15, 2008

What was that song from The Wizard of Oz..Hi Ho the witch is dead?  I feel like singing "Hi Ho the stall is gone"!  For 8 weeks I did not lose an ounce.  I didn't change anything except increase my calcium, and my body went on strike.  Finally I have started to lose again and am now approaching Onderland.  I hope by Christmas to be in the magic kingdom (and I don't mean Disney..lol)  It was so wonderful to order clothes from the Gap!  I seriously have to get some pics on here.  I still avoid having my pic taken though.  I need to set an appointment with one of my children to take some!

WOW

Nov 04, 2008

Isn't it lovely to go into your closet, throw on some clothes you haven't worn in a while and find they are WAY TOO BIG!!!! I am loving it!  As my DH watches my body deflate, I think I'll end up getting some enhancements out of the deal in another year or so..lol  So, this is a double WOW!

Time flies, scales creep

Nov 01, 2008

Holy Cow..where has the time gone?  Today I can take a breather.  Football ended last night for Nick (my freshman son got to start Varsity last night..woohoo!), football ended last week for Will and cheerleading pressure is less now for Caroline, band ended last weekend (placed 4th in State..woohoo!), HOSA is off and running and had our fall night meeting last week.  No doctor appointments until late November for anyone in my family..that's a huge woohoo! Halloween fall festivals have passed.

I'm in a stall and getting really disgusted with it, but I had less than stellar lab work so I've had to increase my calcium, D, B, and protein and I think that's making some difference.  I definately will be hitting the nutritional forum to learn all I can.  I also have to get some energy and try to do some exercise beyond what I'm doing in the cold weather (which means mostly nothing   I want to be a LOSER so I need to get in motion!  I have seriously thought of buying some new scales.  Maybe my stall is a glitch in my scales??? lol

Definate WOW moment!!!

Oct 12, 2008

I had a great and unexpected WOW moment last night.  I decided to go shopping while I was at the beach, after my son's band competition.  (I live in the sticks where there is no decent shopping)  I needed some new black pants for the conference I'm attending with my students this week.  I entered a store and went immediately to the Plus Size area but realized..."I'm in size 16, that's in the regular size area"!!  I cruised over to the Missy Dept and found some wonderful pants that were on sale!   It felt so good to shop in the regular sizes!

OH Time

Oct 06, 2008

OK, I got out of bed early this morning and did I get to log on to OH?  NOOOOO!  I did laundry! lol  I know there are those of you out there who can identify!    Why are boys so dirty?  Why do they hide their dirty clothes in the closets and under the bed until they have no more clean clothes and then want them all washed right away?

Oh, I have a WOW moment:  I had to get some shirts for my HOSA officers to have shirts embroidered to wear to a conference.  I was able to get into a 18 / 20!  Woo hoo!  I'll have a shirt that matches the girls and not the boys!  Yeah Me!
