Truckin along...

Paperwork? Check. Mailed in and everything. Now... more waiting. I did some research and people with my Medicare and QMB Medicaid get approved all the time. So I'm optimistic.
::sits and waits::
The waiting game?
Mar 18, 2013
Tomorrow night is the Info Seminar with the Surgeon I have been referred to. My fiance and his Mom are coming with me :-) I feel so great that they are with me, even if his Mom is really paranoid about the whole thing.
I know I have to meet with nutritionists, have a psych eval (oh yeah, real challenge there... been on meds/with shrinks since I was 6 years old... ), go through physical tests, and then apply for the surgery. So its the waiting game. I know some people get approved and go in within a few months, and some take as long as 6-9 months.
I have waited this long for my star of hope, right? Just keep on praying... and staying strong.
Mehhhhh

I don't really feel like myself right now... past few days I am just sooooo tired. My neck and shoulders are so tense and sore when I get up. I am beyond exhausted all day, like I've hardly slept at all even though I sleep through most of the night (minus the normal wake ups). My eyes hurt, I've had to use my inhaler more than I usually do... Ugh.
This sucks.
ONE VICTORY PRE-OP!

I got a phone call not an hour after I requested a referral to the Bariatric Center that my Primary Care Doc has sent over a referral!! I am so very happy and elated and and just... wow.
I know its early days, but I take each little thing as a blessing!
Now to wait for a phone call from the Bariatric Center.
Step One!
Mar 11, 2013
I made my very first step today. I called my primary care-Mosaic Medical-and asked about getting a referral to Advanced Specialty Care here in town, the Bariatric and Nutrition center best suited to my needs. The surgeon there, Dr. Stephen Archer, has a wonderful reputation and the clinic is listed under the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence needed for Medicare.
Because I am on Medicare, i had to do days worth of research ((all weekend, in between homework)) but I discovered to my delight that they do cover surgery to 80%, and I fit their criteria!
- BMI of 35 or greater
- at least one obesity comorbidity (I have SEVERAL!)
- Failure of outside treatment/diets for obesity (dear lord, I am even on psych meds with side effects that help with weight loss and still nothing!!
So. I am now waiting on a call back from Mosaic on a referral.
