Step One!

I made my very first step today. I called my primary care-Mosaic Medical-and asked about getting a referral to Advanced Specialty Care here in town, the Bariatric and Nutrition center best suited to my needs. The surgeon there, Dr. Stephen Archer, has a wonderful reputation and the clinic is listed under the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence needed for Medicare. 

Because I am on Medicare, i had to do days worth of research ((all weekend, in between homework)) but I discovered to my delight that they do cover surgery to 80%, and I fit their criteria! 

• BMI of 35 or greater
• at least one obesity comorbidity (I have SEVERAL!)
• Failure of outside treatment/diets for obesity (dear lord, I am even on psych meds with side effects that help with weight loss and still nothing!!

So. I am now waiting on a call back from Mosaic on a referral.
