Dearest Monique, I, too, had Dr. Peter Crookes as my surgeon. He is quite simply the best doctor I have ever had. My DS surgery was Nov. 5, 2002 at USC County General. While I hated the hospital nursing staff and the hospital itself (it just is NOT a private hospital), the doctors there were pure gold.
I know how scared you might be right now, for I certainly was. And unlike some people, I did have some complications -- but today I am doing quite well. There were times in the hospital when I screamed and cried and hated myself for doing the surgery, but today I am grateful to have this incredible tool. I feel as if I am finally able to start to live again after years of being dead inside.
This surgery is not an easy choice to make. It is not the "easy" fix some people think it is. I know that you have struggled long and hard to come to your decision and that you are trying to do the best for yourself you can. And I for one applaud you.
I know it isn't easy for you right now. I will do what I can to show you the way.
Namaste`,
Linda

Monique listen to your real heart and not your fears. This surgery was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Go to the Photo Gallery and look at all the Before and After Pics. Keep reading the postings from all of these amazing people. If these don't keep you focused and convinced then maybe nothing will. I know this website has been my lifeline.

Breathe, Monique. Try to stay calm. You're going to be fine. You are taking this step for your son's sake, as well as your own. Last minute jitters are completely normal. We see it all the time on the board. In a couple months you will be trying to calm me down. You said in your profile that you had few health problems before the surgery, which just increases your chances of having a complication-free surgery. Your son will thank you when you can do more things with him, and be happier and healthier. And I will also be praying that everything goes well for you. Try to stay positive, and God bless. If you need to talk, you can email me any time. ~~Kimber~~
