Dr Today
Feb 17, 2009
So tomorrow I go to a GI dr to find out when he is going to a scope to see if the bottom whole of my stomach is full of scar tissue and if so have them stretch it back out.
I know that all of this could be side affects from the surgery. What I didn't think was possible was to get them all. Since my surgery i have had a kidney stone (did not know that this was a side affect) my gall bladder taken out and now this. I am back to my all liquid diet. WHICH I HATE!
The doctor told me that I have an advantage over most, that I will lose more weight quicker than most. Which I guess is good but not exaclty how I thought it would be.
Another thing that bothers is me is the fact that my mom had the surgery 3 weeks after me and isn't exactly following the diet and is having none of the problems. It just doesn't seem fair. I am glad that she is doing well but come on, when do I get a break?
If you have any information on any of this or have been there please let me know. I feel so alone!
A New Me
Feb 16, 2009
Hello All-
I have been a member for some time now, but have never really blogged. I had my gastric bypass on December 31, 2008. Since this date I have lost 42 pounds. I have had some problems with my surgery, the one thing I didn't know is that the rapid weight loss would cause kidney stones. So a month out of surgery I had a 4 mm kidney stone. WHOO HOO. Then the next week everything I started to eat came back up. I called my dr who said that there was a stomach virus going around and that things should get better. So later that week it was still as bad so I called back and they ran some tests and found out that my gall bladder was only working at 7%. So last thursday they took it out, I am somewhat sore but I am so afraid to eat. I don't want to throw up any more. I have been trying to eat little by little and I stop eating when my belly hurts. If anyone has any advice about that please feel free to let me know.
o, when I started my journey with my dr I was at 267 pounds, before surgery I had gone down to 258 pounds. Its been almost 8 weeks since my surgery and I have gone down to 216 pounds. I am extremely surprised that I have lost that much weight in that short of time. I have been told that my ideal weight will be somewhere around 137 pounds. That leaves me needing to lose 79 more pounds. I know that the rest is going to be harder to lose than the first 42 pounds. It just blows my mind that within a year I could lose 121 pounds. HOLY COW!
The only issue that I am starting to notice is that I don't really look like myself any more. I know that its to be expected but oh my god I didn't think that it would be that different that soon. Hmmm...any opinions or thoughts are more than welcome!
