13 days post-op...

Jul 19, 2010

Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since my surgery. I got on the scale on Saturday and had lost 10 pounds since surgery so that makes 20 pounds since June 22 when I began my pre-op diet. I still feel bloated but guess that is normal.

I had large hiatal hernia repaired, gallbladder taken out and bypass and still am amazed I had very little pain in my belly! I have CFS and Fibromyalgia and have had a flare up and some aches and pains and headaches but it is all getting better. I think a lot of the pain was from being on OR table with arms outstretched and head tilted back to be intubated. I am sleeping better, feeling a little stronger every day. I wear a pedometer and record how many steps and my goal is 10,000 a day! I am up to about 2500 which I think is GREAT! And, I woke up this morning and my first thought was I wanted to go for a walk! What's up with that one?? lol Just a few weeks ago, it seemed difficult some mornings to get out of bed to go to the bathroom! So, I guess I am doing OK even with the Fibro pain if I am thinking of taking a walk at 5 AM!

It is strange to look at 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and think that it looks like a lot of food, knowing I have 45 minutes or so to eat it! I am eating scrambled egg, cottage cheese, cream soups and my protein shakes and trying to remember the 30/30 rule and get 64 oz of water in me, too. All this recording of everything I eat, how many steps, etc, is a full time job! :)

I am optimistic and determined to be very sassy when I turn 60 in September! I am so grateful for Dr. Pohl, for my wonderful daughter, for hope for a healthy life, for my comfy bed, for friends who have made me feel cherished and so many other things.....

SEE IT, BELIEVE IT, ACHIEVE IT!!
