Seat belt extender

May 15, 2014

This past week was a huge accomplishment in my weight loss journey! I had been planning a visit to see my Son and Daughter in law, they live in Omaha.  The last time I saw him was in October (2013), for their wedding. At that time they lived in Kansas and we all flew to Kansas for the wedding. Now why in the world would two people who all of their families live on the East Coast want to get married in Kansas, of which they had only lived there for four months themselves. So we all flew the Kansas. And by the way I hate flying! Not because of the whole plummeting to your death thing, but because of everyone looking at you, praying that YOU the "fat Lady" will not be sitting next to them! And then there is the seat belt extender! I remember flying to Florida for work (about 8-9 yrs ago) and being to embarrassed to ask for the extender that I hid the seatbelt around and under me that it appeared that I was seatbelted. I was so squished in the seat that it would have taken a crane to get me out of that seat anyhow! But the Kansas trip I could not be sneaky, my seat partner was my oldest granddaughter and nothing gets past this five year old, so I had to be good. On the way to Kansas she said nothing, but coming back she asked "Gramma why do have to have that and I don't?" After my explanation she quietly stated "oh"! Her simple little "oh", bothered me more than asking for an extender and having the flight attendant say loudly in front of everyone "could you pass the seatbelt extender back to the Lady in the purple please". Come to think about it, it was then that my Granddaughter asked what the extender was. Sooooooo...here I was again, this time 150 lbs lighter and this time flying alone. Right from the beginning I noticed, the pep in my step walking through the terminal. We had to walk out and up to the plane. I noticed the ease of walking through the isles and able to walk frontwards and not sideways and even sidways I would bump into everyone that was seated. And then I was able to sit in the seat without having to put the arms up. Matter of a fact I sat in the seat with great comfort, except for the whole long leg thing, but no matter how much wt I loose those legs and big feet will be a nuisance. Then came the true test....clicking the belt on....I was so excited I took pictures and sent them to my husband, Daughter and Son! Not only did the belt fit with ease, but I had several inches to spare!
