The Food Police
Nov 06, 2011
I am now six weeks post-op and if there's one thing I've found I have problems with, it's the household food police. I mean, I know they mean well by watching out for me and all, just the same, it becomes quite difficult to focus on the task at hand when I am being watched over with a stern eye. What makes it all worse is the fact that they don't even know what I'm supposed to be eating. They're treating me and my food intake as if I were diabetic (which I'm not) and reading every label I bring into the house for carb and sugar intake. It's frustrating because I'm doing my best and yet I seem to meet opposition at every turn.I know they are just looking out for my best interest, however, it's time to allow me to find my own way and not lean so much on me about what I consume. In any event, despite the shortcomings they may possess, I am thankful for my well-meaning family. I know they're not trying to hurt me or my feelings by doing what they do, but I could use some breathing space.
