Surgery

Feb 05, 2009

I had surgery on Tuesday 01/27/09 and surgery went well.  Had pain but not uncontrollable.

The drama started the next day while in the hospital....

When they got me up to walk the next day my oxygen level was dropping low so I had to stay on oxygen the whole time in the hospital.   Before releasing me they called in an pulmonogist who did xray and apparently thought I was ok to go home.  Came home friday felt miserable.  didn't have a whole lot of pain.  But felt miserably short of breath and caughed up a lot of phlegm (spelling).

I called the surgeon about all the phlegm I was coughing up and he said it is nothing to worry about because i need to get that out.  Said if it continued to contact the pulmonologist the next day.

By Saturday afternoon when i tried to go upstairs to go to the bathroom it felt like I had to climb 10 flights of stairs.  (I only have about 10 stairs total)  by the time I got to the top of the stairs I was sweating so bad and out of breath so bad.  I called the pulmonologist and he told me to go to the ER.

Went to the ER and they immediately rushed me back.  They thought I had a pulmonary embolism.  After test, CT Scan and Xray.  I had pnuemonia (thank God!!!)   So long story short I was back in the hospital one day after being released and spent another 5 days in the hospital.  I am just now getting home again and feeling REAL GOOD.  I am going to keep praying to god that I don't get sick again.
