Life is SOOOOO GOOD!!!

Sep 21, 2011

I just LOVE my new sleeve and new lifestyle. I'm now down 56 pounds and I actually feel like doing things. I'm down 4 pants sizes and 3 blouse sizes. People are really noticing as well. I just feel so darn good. I wish I would have done this 15 years ago. We were out in Arizona this past week and I was able to keep up on the golf courses out there. Which is tough cause being in the mountains all the courses are very hilly. We had a great time!
I love the way I eat now - cause I don't have to even think about it. When it's time to eat - I grab protein and I'm good to go. I don't feel bad about what I put in my mouth. And if I want something not so healthy - I eat it. I don't feel at all like I'm dieting. I'm just eating normal for the new me. It's so great!
If you're reading this and in the "thinking about it" stage - DO IT, DO IT, DO IT.... you'll feel so much better.

It's been awhile..

Aug 15, 2011

Hello everyone!
I know it's been awhile since I've blogged. But it's summer and life is busy. I am still feeling GREAT! Getting very used to my new sleeve. I think I've adapted well.
As of Aug. 12th I've lost 49 pounds - basically that is 49 pounds in just 3 months time. I'm VERY happy with that.

Life is good! Not much to report. Except I'm now walking the first 9 holes of the golf course without issue :)

My new life

Jun 23, 2011

Well I'm 5 weeks out as of yesterday. ( june 22) I go back to the doctor for my 6 week check up next week Friday ( July 1)
I've been doing more and more solid foods and things have been going really well. I've never over eaten or thrown up. I do get the hiccops alot :) I think that is because I'm still eating too fast. I just haven't learned how to slow down yet. But that will come, it's getting better every day.

Since starting on more solid foods - I'm finding it harder to get in all my liquids. Partly because of the 15/45 rule - I average about 60 oz a day. But I think another part of that is also that I'm just not a thirsty person. I don't feel thirsty ever. So drinking my water is tough because I have to force it down.
I use things like hot teas or hot water with a little lemon - but I still find that at 9:30 at night I'm still trying to get my water in. But I'm not worried about it, I just keep trying~

Life is good - I'm getting very used to how much my sleeve can hold. I feel satisified and never hungry.
I'm loosing slowly - and that's ok. Today I'm down another pant size. I do my best to stay off the scale so as not to get discouraged.
This has been a GREAT experience in my life.

Almost 4 weeks post-op

Jun 13, 2011

I feel really good. I'm able to eat all the mushy stuff without an issue. My weight is at a stall right now. I have been for about a week. But that's ok - it's to be expected. My body just needs to catch on to what I'm doing to it.
Starting Wednesday I can add some different foods into my diet. Like canned Chicken and Turkey, eggs, Mayo, seafood, cheese. So that will be a nice change. Although I often forget to eat, so I'm not sure how much help it's going to be. It's so funny - cause I don't even think about food. So I forget to eat. Never thought I'd be able to say, " I don't even think about food" ... :)
Life is good. Getting some golf in and bike riding. Still having some knee issues - but my feet are a bunch better. I'm hoping my knees will catch up soon.
Wish I would have done this 10 years ago or more.

2 weeks post-op

Jun 03, 2011

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 2 week check up. I've lost 25.5 pounds since the start of my Pre-op on the 4th of May. I'm still feeling really good. The Dietitian advanced my diet to things like Cottage cheese, refried beans, potaotoes, pureed things - for the next 2 weeks. Then at week 5 I can add in things like canned or ground chicken, turkey and ham, Eggs, Cheese.etc.
Then I will go in for my 6 week check up on July 1st. Then I should be released for all foods as tolerated.

I tried oatmeal today - that was a little too heavy. So I'll wait and try that in a few weeks. I had refried beans last night and those were really good.

Pretty much life is back to normal. Just playing with the food thing for the next few weeks. I feel great!

Still feeling great!

May 30, 2011

I'm a 12 days post op today and I am still feeling great. I haven't had any issues at all. I can honestly say I feel normal. I'm still on a liquid diet but that should be changing when I go to the doctor on Thursday (6-2-2011) I'm one of the lucky ones that it doesn't bother me when people eat in front of me. The one thing that has surprised me is that although the food that they are eating smells REALLY GOOD - I have no desire to eat it. We went to the club the other night after golf and my husband had a Pretzel crusted Chicken Sandwich, his golf partner had an Olive burger and his son has Preto Chicken pizza - it all smelled so good - but it didn't bother me to sit and drink my broth. I just had no desire to eat anything they were eating.
As far as my liquid goes - I'm able to take normal swigs just like before surgery. It doesn't take me very long to get through a shake or my broth. Yogurt and cream soup fill me up after about 3 oz. though.
My knees and feet feel a ton better too. I have no idea how much I've lost - I will know Thurday when I go to the doctor. I'm really looking forward to that doctors visit.:)
Well today is my son's Graduation Open House - so should be a fun day!

healing

May 23, 2011

Today is Monday May 23 - 6 days ago I was sleeved. Today I had a few signs of healing. My belly started itching at all my incisions. My feet are no longer swellen, and I only had to take my pain meds 2 times today. I also noticed that I can eat a S.F. jello cup a little faster than yesterday. :)
I'm feeling really good. Yesterday and today I went for a bike ride around the neighborhood. Yesterday 1 mile and today 2 miles. And I'm doing all my normal activities - wash, dishes, making beds, things like that. I'm getting super excited to go to the doctor for my 2 week check up so he can see how well I'm doing.
I'm getting in about 60 grams of protein and about 50-60 oz. of fluid now. And that isn't pushing it. That's just doing my normal thing. I can tell if I drink too fast or to much. My sleeve rebels and give me the burps and they hurt. So I'm very careful.  I LOVE my sleeve!!

4 days out..

May 22, 2011

And I'm feeling great. I have very little pain. I'm able to drink about 40oz. of liquid and I'm able to get about 50-60gr. of Protein in. Hot things like soup or tea I do much better with than cold things. I had S.F. Jello for the first time this afternoon and that went just fine. Although it took me about an hour to get in a little 6 oz. cup. My tummy is actually groweling today. I'm not sure what that means. It's not upset or anything - just making alot of noise.
So far this has been a good experience and I feel alot better than I thought I would.
Relaxing today - laying in the sun and watching the boats!

I'm Sleeved!!!

May 20, 2011

I was sleeved on May 18, 2011. The whole proceedure went just fine. I was up and walking the halls about 6 hours after surgery. I ate ice chips the first 24 hours. Then I started on clear liquids. I've been doing just fine with those. It seems that hot teas and soup goes down a little easier than really cold beverages. I'm feeling great. I'm really surprised at how well I feel and how good I'm doing. If it wasn't for the little bit of pain in my tummy from my incisions - I'd be almost back to normal. This whole process has been pretty easy so far~ I'm so blessed, God is great!!!
