I've got my love to keep me warm!

Dec 23, 2011

I chose "I've got my love to keep me warm" as my title of this blog entry because it is one of my favorite Christmas songs. It is also true, that I've got my love to keep me warm especially since I've been a little on the cold side since it's cold here and there's less of me!

Anyway, exciting news. I went to the doctor and he and his nurse are very happy with my weight loss! It was funny because I went to school with his son and I wrote him a message on fb telling him how awesome his dad is!

Haven’t lost much weight since last month, but I need to up my activity and I will definitely do so.

So last month I wrote about the size 12 jeans I wanted but wasn't able to get into them yet. Well I didn't go back to Macys to get them, but I went to Nordstrom on Monday and when I was supposed to be buying gifts for other people I decided to buy myself a pair of jeans for my Birthday. I had to get them early so that they could be hemmed. So I started out on the third floor of Nordstrom where Encore is. You know the plus size section.

Sorry but I'm taking a little break and I'm inserting my rant ____ here!

So like I mentioned the plus size section at Nordstrom’s is called Encore. Encore basically means more. So…why do they really need to go there and call it Encore. I mean are they trying to say that the ladies that shop at Encore either 1-weigh MORE than the ladies that just shop in women’s clothes, 2-need MORE material in their clothes, or 3- have MORE to put in clothes?? Then Encore takes up like maybe 15 square feet (if that), where the clothes are all packed in. You have your dress clothes for work, casual clothes, evening dresses and coats all cramped in the little section. Meanwhile you go downstairs to women’s clothes on the second floor and it takes up the whole floor. You have petite’s, high fashion couture, designer, casual, dressy, work dressy, ball gown dressy, and like every coat imaginable. Ok, so let’s look at Men’s while I’m on a roll. There is not a separate section for bigger men in the Men’s clothing section. Their clothes are all in the same area. What this leads me to believe is that not only are plus size women facing segregation based on the discriminatory views of how the store deems our size unacceptable (that’s why we are banished in a corner upstairs), but it’s sexist because all men (big and little) can shop together, but bigger women have to be separated from smaller ones. And let me tell you it’s separate but it’s sure as hell not equal! I’m going to have to write them a letter in the New Year regarding this issue, because it bothers me. It didn’t so much when I was up there, but since I’ve been visiting the second floor I definitely see the injustice!!!

Ok…I’m done. So I ended up having to go downstairs to the second floor to get my jeans. So I got a 14 to try on and the sales associate looked at them and told me that they were kind of big. Can you believe that a 14 was big on me. I thought the other pair may have just been a fluke, but this was another one. It was a 1 and a 4 (and no W). So we tried on the 12 and they fit well. Now I may have to get a little  help from my Spanx to hold in some of my upper tummy but they are definitely a go. I got them altered and I will pick them up on Monday.

So got the birthday jeans and a birthday top. It’s the big birthday 3-0! I can say that I am very happy that I’m entering my 30’s as a more health conscious person and I definitely feel good. I think that being in a good place with yourself is a wonderful thing. I think that only better things are in store for 2012 and I am going to be patient, have faith, and be open to receive my blessings.
