I have been a big girl for as long as I can remember. My highest non-pregnant weight is 265 lbs. I saw apicture of myself in 2000, and relaized just how huge I was. For 3 months after that, I went on Adipex and a 1200 cal a day diet. At the end of the 3 months, I had lost 45 lbs. I kept that off for 2 years, until I got pregnant with my son. After he was delived, I weighed 233. I tried to do the 1200 cal diet and excercise on my own, and lost very little weight. After the excercise, I would feel as though I was going to pass out. A girl from work refered me to this hot cardiologist (Dr.Maese). He did a stress test on me and my bp hit 200/104. The official diagnosis of high BP was made. He also spoke to me about the band. After all the paperwork was done on 11/04/04, I was banded. That was a horrible choice. in the next 18 months I had 2 major slips. I had one surgically repaired, and after I found out about the 2nd band (neither of these we done by Dr.Barker) I went to Dr.Barker and wanted a conversion to RNY. I was denied by the ins co because I was only at a 33 BMI. I told Dr.Barker to just take it OUT. He told me to come back when the weight came back. SOOOO-In Sept 06, I went back. On 10/06/06 my paperwork was submitted, and on 10/13/2006 I was APPROVED for my Lap RNY!!!
