Been There, Done That

Nov 16, 2009

Well, I did it! I actually went through with it. I didn't think I would, but I did.

We stayed at a hotel the night before the surgery because we live two hours from the hospital. All night, I fretted: Will I die? Should I write letters to my loved ones? What exactly does "get your affairs in order" MEAN since it would take more than a few weeks to settle a lifetime.

When I got to the hospital, I was so scared that I almost bolted. Seriously. I was shaking and crying so badly they had to give me something to calm me down. I didn't want to go through with it and was praying that the doctor wouldn't do it because my liver was too large. Imagine!

But I went under; and when I woke up, I wasn't in a ton of pain. I was pretty medicated. And the hospital staff was wonderful. My two day stay was pretty uneventful, pretty painless. Everyone was friendly and kind.

So now I'm home and it's not been terrible. Really. I'm not sorry, on this end of it, that I did it. I'm looking forward to a whole new life!

Those of you waiting for surgery - it's no biggie! As long as you have a good doctor, a good program, and you FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS, you should have a not-bad experience.

God bless everyone!
