I have battled with my weight all of my life. I was thinnest when I was in high school. The way I achieved this "beauty" was through simple starvation. No diet has worked for me. Now that I am 37, I am terrified. My health keeps getting worse and worse. I will not sit idly by and slowly watch myself die when I have a daughter and husband that need me, and my family and friends do not deserve to lose me just because of my selfish inability to become healthier.
My primary care physician, Dr. Abigail Emerson, is the most amazing woman. She has been the first to be completely supportive of my surgery. She shows me so much confidence in my ability to make it through this surgery and be successful. She agrees that my body does not match my personality...and I'm sick of it.
SO I did the online info seminar this past Sunday night, faxed some forms, fully filled out others, and have my psych exam scheduled. Just now, I contacted the Bariatric Center with MU for the 3rd time and finally have an appointment scheduled for Monday, 11/8 at 2:30pm!!!!!!!!!!!!
We shall see! I am so excited. Any and all friendships are appreciated. I need as much support as I can get. I am a professional and graduate student. I am very excited about the life changes facing me, and I need others' stories to inspire me. Thanks! I look forward to making good friends on here.
