Day before revision

May 12, 2010

Tomorrow is the day.  It seems as if it were yesterday when I asked the surgeon (while in the room contemplating a fill) about a revision from the band to the vertical sleeve.  He said that it sounded great and that I would not lose anymore weight with the band, it had done all that it could do.
So two months later everything has been put into action and I will get the revision from a lapband to the vertical sleeve.
  YAY!

April 2010

Apr 12, 2010

It is April 12, 2010.  I have been out of work since January 04, 2010 and am going crazy.  I have been to the surgeon and we have discussed taking out the band and doing the Vertical Sleeve.  This process started the early part of March and I am still waiting to see if the insurance and medical group will approve it.  My progress with the band has totally stopped.  I do not get full and am gaining weight little by little.  I experience port pain and I am at the full capacity of this band.
As of date, I have lost about 50 pounds and gained about 4-5 pounds of that back.

No weight loss

Dec 08, 2009

It has been a long time since I have been on here.  I had an endoscopy yesterday because I have lost NO weight for a year.  I thought that hte band had slipped or eroded into my stomach, but it didn't happen.  I am so unhappy with this band, it is tight but I still feel hunger and do not get full with in the 20 minute time...I either end up vomiting because I ate too much or I have hunger pangs.  I am beginning to think this band was a bad idea and should had went with the vertical sleeve.

Update from the unwanted fill

Jan 21, 2009

So, I had the fill.  It turned out that the fill was way too much and I have been living with that fill until the 7th of January, 2009, I had 7cc's in the band.
I asked the surgeon to take out .25cc's but she takes out .50cc's.  Things are getting better with my food intake.  I can eat protein, salad and a little bit of complex carbs.  This is good, I'm not sliming or regurgitating every time I eat.  I told my surgeon I wanted to get to my goal weight by August.  I need to lose 35-40 more pounds and made a pact to her that I would try hard to lose 5 pounds a month.
So, I am now being held accountable.  I have started jazzercise 3X a week and have been walking 1-2 miles daily.  I hope and pray that I lose 5 pounds before the 9th of February, I surely want to succeed at this.

The unwanted Un-fill

Oct 31, 2008

Eleven days ago I went in for a fill.  I asked the doctor to aspirate the saline I have in my band to see how many CC's I have in the band.  The doctor pulls out 7.5 CC's and then re-inserts it along with another 1CC, making 8.5 cc's in my band.  When I walked out of that office, I felt no restriction.  But!  because of me, I feel no restriction right away, anyway.  So  Update...
11 days later I still feel no restriction.  I go to see the surgeon and tell her, "I have NO restriction".  She then notices that I gained 4 pounds and said that I am not a band "success" story.
She then proceeds to take out the saline I have in my band and ONLY pulls OUT 2.5 cc's!!!! Figure that!!! Shouldn't it had been 8.5 cc's???
She then continues to tell me that I may have a slow leak!!!  A SLOW LEAK??? I doubt that, I think the crazy surgeon didn't insert the saline in the right place of the port, not allowing the band to fill up with the 8.5 cc's.  Hence, in all actuality I didn't get a fill, 11 days ago..
UGH!!! I am so ticked...  So I had no restriction, lost no weight, and had to pay ANOTHER co-pay to get filled. UGH!!!
So the doctor re-fills my band with 7cc's and...........Now.........that is what I call good restriction.
I tell ya!!!! What frustration!!!

The Job

Oct 30, 2008

After the hard work I had been doing, I was asked by the background investigator to sign off on the investigation and to re-continue it when I have lost 30 pounds and can get that 1-1/2 mile run down to at least 17 minutes.  I am getting tired, have decided I will do this but am taking a break from it for a month.

The physical agility test

Oct 14, 2008

I ran the mile and a half.  I was urged to run it in 15 minutes but ran it in 21 minutes.  Did 6 full sit-ups (thought I couldn't even do 1) 3 push-ups and ran the 300 meter sprint in 1minute and 45 sec.  One of the greatest things is that I DID NOT QUIT.  This is a huge success for me...
Unfortunately, this is not good enough for my future employer and I was told to lose 30 more pounds and shave 5 minutes off my 1-1/2 mile run.

3rd day of running

Oct 01, 2008

I am off to the gym again and dreading every minute of it!!! Some day I will learn to like this!!! I hate running.  I have to do it though!!! I have noticed that running really shaves off the pounds. Saturday I have that physical agility test YIKES!  I know this will all pay off.

1-1/2 mile run

Sep 29, 2008

Here I am... I ran 1-1/2 miles at the gym treadmill on Saturday; ran it in 21 minutes and 39 seconds.  Today I went to the gym again and did a 1-1/2 mile run on the treadmill.  I ran it in 20 minutes and 45 seconds.  I'm shaving off time, little by little, almost a whole minute there.  I am going to succeed at this physical agility test on Saturday and I will lose this weight and get this job!!!! I need positive reinforcement.
On another note, I am so ecstatic!!! not only because of the running, but was at my friends birthday party and met her sons father-in-law who is singel.  My friend tells me that he asks about me and told her I was a cutie. It's been a very long time since I have ever heard anyone say that.  It sure is hard to comprehend when it is said about me.  I don't feel cute or like a "hottie".
