Baby needs new shoes

Mar 27, 2008

I went running on Tuesday morning, a strong walk/jog and now my ankle is killing me.  I need new shoes.  So...I went to Big 5 Sporting Goods and bought myself a new pair of New Balance running shoes, along with a new pair of hiking boots.  My ankle still hurts today, I think that it is going to take a good week for my ankle to repair itself.
A word to the wise...Don't run in old shoes and make sure you
S-T-R-E-T-C-H-!-!-!

NSV and exercising

Mar 25, 2008

NSV=Took my boys to Six Flags Magic Mountain-Valencia, CA.  We had a great time.  Moving up and down those mountains.  Now I know why they call it Magic Mountain!!!.  Anyway, the NSV is that I rode a few of those maniacal rollercoaster rides.  I was able to fit in the rides with ease and did not feel, "Too large to a fit into the seats".  I used to be so afraid of being rejected onto the rides because of my size and also it frightened me that the restraints wouldn't close right and I would end up falling out and dying.
So.... I now can ride the rollercoasters!!!! wooohoooo!!!!

Exercise:  Took my dog for a walk/jog today for one hour.  I feel so tired now from that activity.  Time for a nap. :-)
I'm feeling a bit of pain in my port, yesterday and today.

Exercise (03/18/2008)

Mar 19, 2008

Last night, went for a walk with the dog and my son.  It was great!  we walked 3 miles and did a quarter of that as a jog.  I felt so invigorated after that.
I was told by the doctor that I needed to do an hour of exercise a day.
I think that a good walk/jog would be a great cardio workout until I get the hang of running.
This weekend, I signed up for the Revlon Women's Cancer Walk scheduled on May 10th.
I was hoping to do that 5K run but I don't think that I will have the ability to do that as of yet.  I decided it was a better decision to do the walk.  The run will be scheduled for next year.
Well gotta go...Ciao!

Been a long time

Mar 15, 2008

It's been quite a long time since I've written anything.  I went to get my 4th fill on 03/12/2008.  I weighed in at 193 pounds.  I was at the doctor's office 6 weeks prior to that and I weighed in at 201.  I lost 8 pounds in the past 6 weeks.  I am so happy about that and with the band.  Life hasn't been that easy lately, a break up with the boyfriend (which really isn't a break up he just refuses to call or communicate with me-hasn't broken up though).  My band has been very finicky and my life has had total drama.  I really just wanted to gorge on food because of the non-communicative boyfriend issue but was unable to because food would get stuck and I would Slime and  so even that was impossible.
Hooooorrrayyyy for that!!!  That's a plus.  I have decided to dedicate this whole year to good exercise habits...at least one hour a day and have decided that it is time to learn how to jog/run. Eat right and don't spin my band into a tizzle.
I have finally figured out that the only thing that really matters are my boys, mom and me.  I need to start working on me inside and out.

Starting to lose

Jan 08, 2008

Well, here I am after my port replacement.  It is now about 7 weeks.  My energy level is starting to spark again.  I am having problems with hair loss.  I credit that to two surgeries with general anesthesia.  I cut my hair alot shorter (4 inches) it looks and feels much better.
It's hard to keep food down, I haven't mastered the small bites and eating at a MUCH slower rate.
Even with these small downfalls, I am losing weight and am feeling much better about the surgery.

Bread is NOT my friend

Dec 20, 2007

I have decided that bread is NO friend of mine.  Since my new fill, I have had bread a few times and it gets stuck in my esophagus.  When this happens, I feel as if my whole chest is going to die from pain.  It is hard for me to breathe when  the bread tries to go down to the stoma.  UGH!!! No more bread for me!!!  I've learned my lesson.

December 20 *The fill*

Dec 20, 2007

I went out to lunch with the office for  a Christmas party.  I could really feel the restriction at lunch today!  I had 2 baby back ribs about 1/4cup of mashed potatoes and WoW!!! I felt pressure in my esophagus, started to get the sweats and was feeling real dizzy.  At one time, I didn't think I was going to be able to catch my breath and breathe.  I need to take even smaller bites and take longer to digest.
I am so glad that I am finally feeling the restriction and this band work together. :-)

December 19 The real fill

Dec 20, 2007

Saw the surgeon today and he said everything looked great with the incision and if I was ready for a fill.  He filled my band with 1cc and gave me water to drink.  I didn't feel any restriction so he gave me another .5cc.  Everything seems to be great.

December 18, 2007

Dec 18, 2007

Life seems to be pretty good, I have been very bad with my eating habits.  Not that I overeat, I eat all the wrong things.  Tomorrow, 12/19/2007 I go to see the surgeon again and get some more fill in my band.  I hope that this will help me in my intake of food.  I have decided it is time to get back on track with my life and to start exercising again.  I haven't exercised since my last surgery.  I am scared that the port will flip again and then I will have to get another surgery!!! Yikes!
I can't wait until the holidays are over with!!! too much food around and tooooo much temptation.
I have though, lost 23 pounds since the first initial surgery.

Port Replacement surgery

Dec 18, 2007

November 30, 2007.  I am admitted into Cedar Sinai hospital and put under general anesthesia.  I have been at the hospital since 5:30 in the morning.  I sit around in the freezing hospital for 4 hours and finally go back to get blood work and the IV inserted.  I go back into the waiting room another 2 hours.  Finally!!!  I am put into the pre-op room and am covered with warm blankets.  It is so cold in this hospital!  I guess the surgery goes great, I kind of wake up at the end of it and then fall asleep again on the way to post op room.  It is so nice and cozy.  I wake 3-4 times and tell the nurse to shoot some more pain medicine in my IV.  7:30p.m. I am finally released to go home.
