The below taken from my 10-year old profile just makes me so sad, and more than a little mad... Here I am, almost exactly 10 years later and still diggin' my grave with a spoon!  In these last 10 years I have lost at least 100 lbs total, here and there, but have gained it all back - fat as ever.  I am OUTTA CONTROL on the diet rollercoaster of Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Ideal Protein, Atkins!!!

Hello, I have been a lurker for a while.  I have been extremely encouraged just by reading the postings here.  I have learned there are many downsides to WLS, but that they are usually far outweighed (hmm...that is a word that I can relate to!) by the positive outcomes for almost everyone.

Visited PCP today, he says he would like to look into the LAP BAND procedure before proceeding, just newly approved in the US....now I am looking into finding people with experiences with it. Kind of concerned, because I am not sure about its effectiveness when compared to RNY but I do like the lower risk idea.

Have been asked why all of a sudden I have decided to do this. I have toyed with the idea for a very long time, but what set me off to an obsession is the fact that my blood pressure is way too high, also I am tired of being tired all the time. My chols and trigs stay high no matter what I do, and I have a million skipped heart beats. It is just TIME to do this! Then, there are all the added little things...having to suck in my tummy just to buckle up on a flight (I'm not asking one of those skinny stewardesses for an extender! - I can buckle, but with no room to spare!!!), popped buttons, owwiiee lines from my waistband on jeans, and I am sick of that little shelf on my backside! What a joy it will be to say goodbye to all those little things!!!

Insurance approved my consultations with the specialists the surgeon requires. Wonderful step in the right direction as far as I am concerned! I was so frightened I'd hear NO, but, so far, so good! Now I will have to wait until May for surgery because Dr. Gorospe is too booked to get me in before next semester when college starts, and with 17 hours, there is no way to conquer surgery and classes at the same time!

I attended the support group meeting for for the patients of the surgeon earlier this week. The results of previous patients were awesome!!!

So much for starting off 2002 on a positive note. As of Jan. 1 the BlueCrossBlueSheild plan I am covered under has dropped any obesity related treatment...including surgery, supervised diets, or medications...all nixed. Just an unhappy day.

Here it is... almost 4 years to the day that I began posting. Still fat! Weighing exactly the same as I did when I began my research into this surgery. I SO wish it were 4 years in the past, and I were healthy and normal sized.
