Today is my fresh start.  Back in late August of 2006 I finished 6 months of a doctor monitored diet and excersize program.  When I only lost 8 pounds on and off, we sent in for surgery approval.  The approval came back in 3 days and the appointment was set for early November to meet with the dietician and surgeon.  Those appointments were a week apart.  After meeting the dietician and learning about what life would be like after surgery, I was still in the positive thinking mode.  The next week we went to see the surgeon and after watching the horrible video about all the risks involved, I wanted to leave.  But I didn't, I pushed through the fear and met the doctor.  When we left the doctor's office, I was in tears as there was no way this was going to be for me.  I was scared stiff.  I'm not sure what happened to do that as I knew everything already that he had told me, but it was just very nerve racking.  He said he'd have his nurse call me to set the surgery date as I left and being speechless I just noded.  I figured I needed a few days to let everything sink in.  Here we are at January and not a phone call yet.  The holidays gave me time to get everything in perspective and I'm ready to go now.  My thinking is in the correct place and I know that this surgery is going to save my life in more ways than one.  I called today to set my date, but was told that I can't do that until the sleep test in completed.  The doctor didn't say anything about a sleep test, although I've always heard you have to do them.  The nurse hasn't called me back yet to even schedule that though.  I'm hoping that within the next few months, I'll have surgery and that my life will change forever!
