Haven't posted in several months.

Jan 06, 2010

Hello all,

I haven't posted since Oct. so I thought I'd give an update.  Well, I am still not losing even after the fill.  When I went back for a check in November the doctor told me that I wasn't getting enough protein.  I have increased the protein, but I'm still not losing.

I have another appointment this month and I am going to be ready for a fill.  It's getting very frustrating to not be losing.  I am beginning to wonder if I have some other problem.  I go to my regular doctor tomorrow, weather permitting, and I am going to ask him about checking my blood.

I just think something else is wrong because I am only eating about 1500 calories a day and I am avoiding foods that aren't good for you.

Got another fill yesterday

Oct 07, 2009

Wow.  Been a while since I posted to my Blog so I thought I would update today.

I didn't get a fill in Sept, but I got one yesterday.  The doctor said that I had 3 cc's in my band and so he gave me .4cc's more.  It seems to be making a difference today.  I sure hope so because I had stopped losing.

I am working out on my bowflex treadclimber everyday at least 30 minutes.  I can treadclimb 1 mile in 30 minutes at 2mph.  One of my co-workers used to be into body building competition and he has given me a lot of great pointers for working out and eating.

I really hope that by next Oct I am down to where I want to be.  That would be a really great birthday present to myself.  I am going to keep my spirits up and continue to do the do.

Take care all.

Next Time.

Another Fill

Aug 19, 2009

I am going for a checkup and another fill on Sept. 8th.

I sent Erin my report from www.thedailyplate.com and she said that I seem to be eating ok, just need to watch the sodium intake and keep it at around 2400.

I don't think I am losing any weight though and my scales suck although they are brand new.  I am going to go scale shopping at bed bath and beyond.

I hope this next fill will put me on the losing side of life.

Don't know!

Aug 13, 2009

Well, It's been 2 weeks since my last fill, I'm at 3.2 cc in my 10cc band now.
I am doubting the accuracy of my scales at home because everytime I go in their scales are different than mine.

I have changed my eating habits and I am keeping them charted on www.thedailyplate.com so I can print this out when I go back for my Sept appointment.  I have a feeling that Erin will want to look at it.

I am eating:

Early morning: Chike Protein Shake

Breakfast: 1 cup Kashi Go Lean Honey Almond Flax cereal w/1/2 cup skim milk

Lunch: 6 slices Oscar Meyer Smoked Shaved Turkey w/1/2 slice Kraft Low Fat Sharp Cheddar Cheese made into a roll with either 1/2 cup potato salad, 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese w/fresh fruit, or homemade apple salad (apple, raisins, celery, lf mayo, lf sour cream)

Dinner: 2 Gordons Fish Fillets, with either 1/2 cup green beans, broccoli & cheese, diced carrots, or applesauce, and 2 tlbs tarter sauce for the fish.  Or I have 4 Wal-Mart Deli fried chicken wing pieces with 1/2 cup potato salad and 1/2 cup baked beans.

I try not to do too many snacks but if I have a snack its one of the following:

sugar free jello or pudding
yoplait light yogurt
babybel lite cheese
baby carrots raw
2 tbls skippy peanut butter w/5 saltine crackers

It feels like I am losing some, my clothes seem to be getting loser, but I am still just not sure.  I am trying to make an effort to drink more water, but it's a battle.  I would much rather have some coffee!

I am also exercising most every day.  I have a bowflex treadclimber and I usually use it like a treadmill.  I walk for 30 minutes each time at 3 mph.  Some days I do the treadclimbing for part of my workout and walk the rest of my time.  I can't do the treadclimber for a full 30 minutes yet.

For varity I also have some exercise videos that I use called "Walk Away the Pounds".  I use the 2 mile one and get a good cardio workout.

That's my plan for now.  I guess I'll find out how successful it is at my next appointment.

Had my fill

Jul 30, 2009

Well, I have gotten my fill.  Everything went pretty good.  At least he didn't bruise me like he did the first time when he had trouble finding it.  Dr. Luttrell said that I had 3.2cc in my 10cc band.  Today is seems pretty tight.  I have had some trouble with things going down.

I tried to eat a little chili for lunch and that didn't go very well.  I will stick with clear liquids for the next couple of days.

I am kind of unhappy with the way Dr. Luttrell's office keeps changing where you have to go.  At first they would do the fills in the office at Rivercrest.  Now I have to drive all the way to Jacksonville to North Metro hospital.  Not only is this very far away, but they also make you pay $100.00 each time.

Now I wish that I would have looked at other doctors, but he came highly recommended by my gp.

Going for a Fill

Jul 28, 2009

Well, I go for another fill today at 2:30.

I am so ready for this weight to start dropping off.  According to my scales I haven't lost a pound, although I am walking on my bowflex treadclimber every night for at least 30 minutes at a speed of 3 to 3.5 mph.

I am getting really frustrated that I'm not losing anything.  Hopefully after today I will start dropping.  According to Erin at Dr. Luttrell's office, I shouldn't be able to eat bread but I haven't had any issues yet with any foods.  I can eat pretty much whatever I want as long as I chew it up good.

Last night I had a bowl of salad and 1 slice of pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut.  I don't know if I'm not supposed to eat that much, but I can.  That's why I think I need another fill.  That and I am getting hungry 2 or 3 hrs after eating.  I can tell that I am losing inches, but not pounds.  Of course I don't know if my Wal-Mart scales are accurate.  I hope they aren't.

6 weeks after surgery

Jul 22, 2009

Wow!  It seems like I have had my band longer than 6 weeks.  I had my first fill on July 2nd, almost 3 weeks after my June 8th surgery.  It seems that I am able to eat things that I shouldn't, like bread.

I am scheduled to have another fill next week on the 29th.  I hope this is a normal process.  I feel like I am stuck right now because I am really not losing any weight.

I have started walking on my bowflex tread climber, using it like a tread mill, every day.  I walk from 1 to 2 miles depending on whether I use it like a tread climber or a tread mill.  I keep the speed at 3 to 3.5 mph.  I also use Leslie Sansone's walk away the pounds to give my workout some pizazz.

Please send me any pointers that you have.  I want to do this right!

About Me

Jul 22, 2009

Hi everyone!  I am a Technical Manager with Xerox in Hot Springs, Ar.  I have worked here for 17 years and I love it.  We do document imaging even though most people think Xerox just does copiers.

Between working, taking care of my 76 yr young mother and my pug Sassy, and getting in exercise time for me, I stay really busy.  On the weekends I spend a lot of my time taking care of our yard and home.

When I have a little free time, I love to read.
