I had BP that was 150/110 and that was normal for me! I thought that my surgery would be canceled out because of it. My surgeon didn't find it to be threatening. I guess it really all depends on how high it goes. Are you on meds for it? I had my surgery with no complications on 6/26/02, I'm down 70 lbs. Now my BP is 115/80. I wish you the best, good luck!

My surgeon says that having a problem like BP, sleep apnea, or others is NO problem for surgery as long as its known and under control. So relax, They might put you on new or other BP meds before surgery. But it shouldnt delay things. Its a excelleent co morbidity to help get WLS approval. Best news is that high BP drops like a rock after surgery, Mine was 130 over 110 on meds pre op. It spiked low for awhile after surgery, 85 over 58 was see stars special but by 6 months settled in at 110 over 70. Perfetly normal. Its hard to imagine I am normal:)

As long as your high blood pressure is controlled, according to my surgeon surgery is a "go". I am 5 weeks post-op and they have cut my blood pressure medication in half with the hope that in a month or so I will be able to stop it all together.

My BP was high before surgery and that was one of the reasons I had the surgery. The week before surgery it was 155/110. Since surgery, I am happy to say that my BP is in the low/normal range, about 110/70. I am of all meds. Good luck!

My blood pressure was high, 165/111 and my surgeon wanted it controlled before he would clear me for surgery. Took a trip to PCP and three weeks to see if med was working properly. It was, blood pressure went to 128/88 and my surgeon cleared me. Surgery is Sept. 25, 2002. Good luck to you!
