When I first met Dr. McKane I thought he was a gentle type and also very up front and honest about what he expected from you. I like that because I like to know where I stand.
I think his office staff was very nice and very professional. They make you feel comfortable.
so far everything seems really nice.

Dr McKane is a consumate professional. Although I had done considerable reseach on WLS he covered all the bases in terms of my suitability for surgery the technical aspects of the surgery the risks and benefits. While Dr McKane has considerable experience with the procedure what I appreciated most was his candor in explaining some of the complications he has come across and how he has developed strategies to deal with their prevention. He took considerable time during our appointments and never hesitated to answer every question I had for him. After meeting with two other surgeons I have no reservations about Dr McKane's confidence in the efficacy of the procedure and his skills and his competance as a surgeon. Once we had spent some time together I came to appreciate his sardonic wit and gentle nature. His staff was very friendly and helpful with all the paperwork and preop work. I can honestly say that I don't have any negative comments on the entire expeience (OK, mabe the rectal exam) all in all a very sartisfying patient experience.

Dr. McKane is the best Doctor that I have ever had. He is very straight forward and very informative about EVERY aspect of the surgery. He leaves nothing for you to guess about. I had some complications and was in the hospital 7 times after surgery. I was in the hospital more than I was home until about 6 weeks ago. I ad a great impression of him right from the start, and he proved to be a great Doc. The office staff is just wonderful, very concerned also. I did not find anything that I did not like about him. He is not trying to scare you out of having surgery when he tells you all the possible complications, he just wants you to be aware of everything. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate Dr. McKane at a 20.

My first impression of Dr. McKane was that he was efficient, matter-of-fact, and direct. He spoke in terms easily understood (I am a health care provider and am familiar with medical terminology, but found his use of simpler language reassuring). My husband was pleased with his direct approach and found his "no holds barred" interactions ressuring. His office staff was incredibly helpful in the process. Peggy is an angel, although, she too is incredibly direct. Some may perceive this as rude by both she and Dr. McKane, but I didn't feel that way at all. The aftercare program appears strictly structured, although I am just beginning that phase. Dr. McKane and Peggy addressed the risks of surgery directly and thoroughly. He was comforting and reassuring when my fears overtook me but never minimized the risks involved. I would highly recommend Dr. McKane to anyone considering this surgery.

my first impression of dr.mckane was that he was a jerk, but after my consult visit i think he was a to the point kind of dr.
I had a problem with insurance approval and he just kept after them about my health problems and ones that could arrise if denied wls.

the office staff consisted of one nurse at the time . Peggy was awsome with my paperwork and many calls from both me and my husband.

my first impression of him was that he was a jerk buti can`t say that i don1t like anything about him.oh, only that he should get more help in the office for peggy or buy her some rollerskates..

AFTERCARE.....take your vitamins everyday and plenty of wter and exercise!!!!

RISK OF WLS.... he was very up front w/ the risks of wls

rate... on a 1 being the worst and 10 being the best i would say about a 8.

well as far as surgical competence, i would say i didn`t have no instaments left in me . so i would say he was very good( all jokes aside )_ he was a carring , confidant, and first rate doc.

My initial impression of Dr. McKane was that he was very kind and informative, and he was even a little bit funny!

I have only had one appointment with him.

He greatly emphasized the LIFE CHANGE of this surgery and the importance of followup care, and of support group.

He was up front about the mortality rate of surgeries and the other possible risks.

I would rate him a GREEEAAAT! overall!

I would think both would be necessary!

I really liked Dr. McKane when I met him. He's down to earth and makes you feel very at ease. The office staff has been really great. I've been very pleased so far.

When I first met with Dr. McKane I thought how nice and pleasant he was. He answers your questions and takes the time to make you feel he really cares.I've met him twice, and I thought the same both times. He tells you like it is. Tells you what you must do, and expects you to do it. I wouldn't be there if I didn't plan to follow what he says. But he also has a wonderful sense of humor. Makes you feel like he is your friend. They have a good after care program, which will help. His staff is very nice. They are friendly and so helpful. The only 'down' thing is the wait in the waiting room sometimes. But I have to remember they are extremely busy and they do have emergencies.

Dr. McKane started off telling a joke. He was very friendly. He was the 1st doctor that didn't tell me I was huge and it was all my fault. He emphasizes all the risks almost to the point I was scared to death. I felt more aware of things after he was done. I really like him alot. He treats me as if I have a brain not some fat lazy dumb fat person like alot of my previous doctors.

Dr. McKane is a doctor like no other that I have spoken with before. He talks to me on his level and never made me feel beneath me. I have always felt like he was willing to give me the time and attention needed to make me feel comfortable with the procedures. Peggy and the rest of his office staff really work hard to make this practice successful and ever growing. They truly and honestly want to help the "morbidly obese" community of the Southern Tier of New York and for that, I thank them whole heartedly. The only negative I would say is that I think they do take the eating schedule a bit too rigid. I felt that I was ready to move forward with the different stages faster than they wanted me to and it was very frustrating for me. I didn't want to break my promise to them and go forward with eating, but after reading how so many other surgeons believed it was okay, I thought Dr. McKane was being overly protective.
