This man gave me hope. He is wonderful and so is the staff. He had a great bedside manner. He and the staff are supportive.I've had no complications and I would do it again. The only negative thing I can think of is it is expensive.

4-6-05: I had my Pre-Op today. I had met with Dr Rowitz on 3-2-05 and he was the same when I met him at the seminar. Pleasant, good bedside manner. He cares for his patients and is not a money surgeon. Today when I saw him, he was the same and went over everything again. He sent me to a class to meet with Dietician, Occupational Therapist, Respiratory Therapist and Nurse. They all told us what to expect and what Dr Rowitz wants for his patients. I really felt safe knowing that the team is all on one accord. They made sure to say Dr Rowitz this and that as far as his care for his patients. I would recommend Dr Rowitz to anyone. "Great" Doctor and his staff is AWESOME!

I have not yet my surgeon as of yet. I will on 9-8-04 at his seminar. I have heard good things about him though.

Dr Rowitz and his PA were very informative. Told the truth about surgery. The risks and possible complications. Gave ratios as to what percentage of his patients had a particular problem, side effect or complication, even death. I like that Dr Rowitz did not try to hide or get away from telling us there was death involved w/ a patient(s). I felt comfortable and trust him. He emphasizes aftercare because it is so important and he also lets you know that this surgery is a tool and you have to use this tool the way it is supposed to be used in order to get maximum results, most importantly follow Doctors orders. I cannot rate Dr Rowitz right now because I have only met him this one time. I will see how things progress and how my surgery goes. Dr. Rowitz has a great team of people who specialize in specific areas to meet the patient's needs.

Dr. O is the best i did not know at first if i was going to. he wants you to be absolutely sure of everything before you consider this procedure. which is completely understandable. by the time that i had my second meeting with him he is the best person that i think that i could have choosen for this procedure. i love a sense of humor and he diffinently has one.
Anne is the perfect nurse she is everything that i feel a person needs when they are going thourgh what we are. she males the time to answer questions and reassure you when you need it.

My first impression of Dr. Oliphant was incredible. I first met him when my wife was going to see him to do her wls. I thought that he was incredible. There were many things that he required that she do to insure that she was going to be as successful as possible. the thought was that here is a doctor who is not out just to make a buck. His nurse Ann is absolutely wonderful. She really cares about each one of the patients. You would swear that by the way that she treats you that you are Dr. Oliphant's only patient.
Aftercare is primary on his mind. He requires office follow-up on the following schedule: 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 3 months and then every three months until 1 year and then annually. You have to agree to this schedule prior to surgery and if you cannot agree to it then he will refuse surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Rowitz was that he was straight forward and concerned about his patients. His office staff was the same way.

I was impressed with the amount of time he spent with us in the information session. Actually, I was impressed that he was there at all. I'd been to about 3 other information sessions and a Dr never showed up for one of them, muchless spend the time that Dr Rowitz did.

My immpression has not changed, really.

All of the staff is helpful and friendly. All my questions have been answered promptly.

They have a great aftercare program from what I understand and Dr Rowitz has stressed that I WILL be seeing him for the rest of my life periodically. They have support groups and programs with the local YMCA. I live about 2 hours away and will not be able to avail myself of all the programs they offer.

He was extremely comprehensive in addressing the risks. He gave national averages and then presented his own.

I can't give a definitive rating as I've not had the surgery yet, but I'm confident in Dr Rowitz's abilities based on the information session, the fact that he's done quite a few of these surgeries, and the satisfaction level of his post op folks that I've met and read about on his website.

Have to let you know about the bedside manner and surigical competence. I'm praying the competence level is HIGH.

I can't say much about the surgical competence yet. I'm praying that all goes well right now.

Dr. Rowitz makes me feel very comfortable about the procedure. He makes sure you are aware of the pro's and con's about the procedure. He is genuinely concerned about your health and helping you reach you goal weight. His staff has been great and has informed me that next month when my 6mo waiting period is over, they will do everything possible to get it approved through Cigna. He makes you understand the significance of getting proper after care and joining the support group. Im sure when i have my surgery he will be great and continue the phenominal care has initiated. I cant say much more because i am only in the initial stages . i will update when im more in depth with the process. These are strictly my experiences

Dr. Rowitz is professional, yet down-to-earth. So far, my impression of him has not changed. His staff is very friendly and never mind answering questions. He takes extra precautions both before and after surgery to make sure the patient is well cared for with no complications. Even though he does a lot of weight-loss surgeries, it is not run like a cattle ranch. However, this web site also asks what I like least about him or his practice, so here goes.In my own personal experience,I felt I did not get enough nutritional training before or after surgery, just a general discussion and a few pages of foods.I also wish I had received some psychological counseling for what I was about to encounter- withdrawal of my addiction to food. Maybe some counter-active techniques would have been helpful.
