Carlos A. Ferrari M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

I initially had a VBG in 95, performed by a different Dr. thru the Neweigh program, which is now in need of revision. Dr. Ferrari will perform my revision. Initially, I thought Dr. Ferrari to be careless and unavailable. After speaking with his office, I felt more frustrated and alone in my battle than ever before. I initially came to him with post VBG weight gain and dumping symptoms. I never saw him nor spoke with him. He just ordered an Upper GI which showed no problems. I was told to seek out a dietician. I was then told that he just didnt think he could help me because it seemed my body had just grown used to my smaller pouch and that I was going to gain the weight back. It happens. I went another year with my sense of failure and watching myself blow up like a ballon with no way to control it. I saw an article in the Neweigh newsletter referring to Debbie and her experiences which led to her needing a revision. I identified with her. I didnt know that a revsion was possible. I called Debbie up at Neweight and cried and begged for help. She talked to Dr. Ferrari and was able to schedule an EDG? and another Upper GI. Dr. Ferrari now thought that I might be having problems and that he could help me. This time my constant dumping symptoms were documented and my pouch was visably stretched. Dr. Ferrari scheduled an appt to meet with me. He now thinks that I am a good candidate for a revison. He was very open to my questions and for discussion. We talked about the issues relative to revisions and he made me no promises as far as weight loss. I know that this is my tool and that I have to make it work for me. The staff at Neweigh were wonderful except for one incident. I prefer discretion when at work. There was an incident where one of the staff workers faxed over some papers to me and neglected to inform me ahead of time that she was doing this, though I had specifically asked her to. Needless to say they passed thru the hands of at least 5 people before I received them. Other than that, I am satisfied thus far. I feel confident that I am in the best hands with my surgeon. My date is Aug 13. He seems very professional, knowledgable, experienced, and competent. I will follow up after my date with more info.

Dr. Ferrari has changed my life in several ways. He performed surgery for my husband in Jan 2000. He did mine in March of 2001. I found him to be competent, caring and concerned. I have not had any problems and 3 months post op am doing great. Yes, there is a wait in his office, but chatting with the other patients can be very helpful. The NeWeigh staff does everything they can to make pre and post op go smoothly. I wouldn't have wanted my surgery handled by anyone other than Dr. Ferrari.

My first meeting with Dr. Ferrari went very well. He is a quiet spoken man and very thorough. The office staff can only be descibed as the best! All the ladies in the office can be descibed as friendly and very caring. The aftercare program at NeWeigh is held in weekly meetings with various topics and discussions between patients. We all try to to help each other with our own experiences.

He is a very competent and informative Doctor.I have gained more confidence in his ability from researching personal comments about him on this site. The Neweigh staff has worked so hard to get the approval from the insurance, to answer all my questions and to calm all my fears. For future patients I think it is important to know that he and Dr. J considered the leaders in the VBG and now are performing the RNY's as the GOLD STANDARD SURGERY WITH less complications as told to me by a Neweigh person.I feel calmer now having it explained and the support of the WLS site and others to gather info.My surgery is set for June the 11th so I will make additional observations later.

Dr. Ferrari was and is very helpful, I knew he & his staff were to be trusted because of the special time & patience they took with me. Everytime I call his office there are other "little sisters" (volunteers who have had the surgery) that are more than helpful & also very friendly. Dr. Ferrari is very structured & has an aftercare program that is acceptable. I mean this only because I live in Corpus Christi & I have to travel 3 1/2 hrs for aftercare. Dr. Ferrari was very thorough with the answers to all of my questions & his main concern was that I was physically as well as mentally ready to make this big change in my life. I would definately like to recommend Dr. Ferrari (NeWeigh) to other patients interested or contemplating Bariatric Surgery.
I am having some minor problems that are being taken care of. I'm not sure if the problems resulted in my outcome of the operation of if they are just common. So at this time I'm not pointing any fingers at anyone. I need to find out more information about what is wrong & Dr. Ferrari is doing his best to help me with this.

I liked him he was recommed to me by a good friend. It hasn't changed at all i love what hes done for me.Everyone in his office are so nice and undrestanding they hug you when and if you need they are great people. There is nothing to dislike about him I have nothing but good things to say about him and his staff I love them.He will make you feel so comfortable hes great.Alot they are real big on after care. You will enjoy the aftercare program the poeple are so nice and helpfull. He informed me fo the risks and had information for me to read.Overall hes the best for the job I'am so glad that I chose him and you will to.I think both are great!

Dr. Ferarri seems like a nice man. He took plenty of time to answer my questions and made me feel very comfortable. The office staff are super!! Everyone is so helpful and full of information. I was told that he has had only one fatality in his many years of practice. This is a little scary, but statistically, good news. He strongly urges after care with NeWeigh, which I have seen in action. It's a wonderful program offering support and information that helps in maintaining good health, eating habits, and discovery of why we eat the way we do. The risks of surgery were addressed at my first consultation and I feel Dr. Ferarri is a very competent surgeon. I, being a big baby, hope his bedside manner is as excellent as his surgical competence, but if it isn't, I guess I will deal with it. However, I can almost bet his bedside manner is equivelant. He seemed like an enjoyable person who loves what he does and sees the need for improved health in obese people. He cares!

My surgeon was all business. He explained everything very well and I feel comfortable with him. The office staff was nice, however I did't appreciate the 3 hour wait to see the doctor. I had to drive in Houston for the first time ever and it was during rush hour so needless to say I was pretty stressed out by the time I got to see the Doctor. The Doctor works with Neweigh and they do all the insurance and run a structured after care program which seems great.
