Dr. Beryl Brown was very upbeat and positive. She made me feel great about my decision to have WLS.
I have only met her once so my first impression has not changed.
The office staff so far has been wonderful. Katie sent all the paprework to the insurance company.
I can't say there was anything I didn't like about Dr. Brown
She is very upfront about everthing. She is also very positive and comforting.
We haven't gotten that far yet. I am sure she will be as thorough as with everthing else.
She was very upfront about the fact because I have had previous abdomianl surgery that there is a chance that I may have to have an open RYN. Knowing the risks upfront really puts things in perspective.

Dr. Berger was a very straight forward no nonsense informative surgeon. He told me the pros and cons of the surgery in a matter of fact sort of way and allowed me to make up my owwn mind as to whether or not this was for me. The office staff was very nice. On my first appointment Dr. Berger was stuck in surgery and had to cancel my appointment, but they worked around my work scheduled and Dr. Berger stayed after normal hours to accomodate me that same day and apologized for having to cancel my initial visit. I was impressed! Dr. Berger made no bones about what to expect and his assistant Andrea is a god send. She stood by me thru the approval process and really kept my spirits up. Dr. Berger and Andrea both stated the importance of keeping my appointments and following after care instructions. I have confidence and felt comfortable with Dr. Berger and Andrea. They are the best.

My post-op visit with Dr Berger was a great ego booster. He said I was doing great. He
didn't even fuss about me taking my own staples out.(smile) I know he wanted to, but
he will follow me for the next 6 months on a monthly basis and he does it in a cheerful and upbeat manner. Many people stop to ask why I look so different and I tell them what I had done, who did my surgery and even the phone number for Dr. Berger's office. I
would recommend him to anyone.

My first impression of Dr. Berger was positive. His seminar was especially helpful. All of my questions were answered and I left feeling good about my decision.

My first impression of Dr. Brown was I think i am going to like her. She was friendly and warm. She didn't mind answering my questions and didn't act annoyed when i told her I expected to be pampered.

Her assistant, Katie was wonderful also. Each time I have called the office with questions i have rec'd a return call within 24 hours if Katie was not available.

The office staff was nice and friendly as well.

There was nothing I did not like.

Future patients should know she is a female, which was a big plus for me.

We have not discussed aftercare yet,(other than the nutrition part).

She advised me of the risks. I have thoroughly researched this procedure so I am aware of risks. For me it balances the risks I place on my heart and other vessels each day I carry 285 lbs on my 5'2 body.

Surgical competence is very important. A great bedside manner though is also important because if you feel your doctor understands you it provides a trust and eliminates a huge stressor at a trying time.

My first impression of Dr Brown is very positive. I've meet with her only once todate. She was recommended to me by 2 other friends who have had this surgery.
She took time to explain the procedure.

My first impression of Dr. Berger was that he was straight forward and honest. He is a very busy man but still had the time for me. On top of that his staff is wonderful. The head nurse, Andrea, is always answering my questions with patience and care.
If I could change anything, it would be that I could talk to Dr. Berger more, but I do understand he is busy, and again, Andrea is awesome.
Future patients should know that this office works hard and gets a lot done for you, especially when it comes down to the insurance aspect of the process.
When I had my first meeting with the doc he told me straight out about the risks, which told me he was all for being blunt, which I like.
Overall, he and his staff are highly recommended from me. I feel that surgical competence AND bedside manner are both a crucial part of your experience, and this staff had it!

Dr Beryl Brown is very nice. My first meeting with her was very comfortable. She didn't make me feel as though I was taking a drastic measure. She answered all my questions and let me know exactly what will happen, pre and post op. She let me know that her and her staff are at my disposal, even after my surgery. I would definately recommend her.
