Dr. Wilson made a wonderful first impression. He is fairly new in WLS (3-4 yrs clinical experience), but he was very upfront and informative about his practice, what he expects from his patients and what we should expect from them. One thing they can improve on is that they are a very busy office and it's difficult to catch his staff on the phone or get called back. Come prepared.. know why you want WLS. He addresses the risks of surgery extremely well. Brutal with facts and risks. Very honest.

The first time I meet Dr. Wilson was atn informational session that you have to attend before your first appointment. I like him immediately. He sounded confident and did not sugar coat how serious this procedure is. At my first appointment he seemed in a hurry, but was ready to answer any questions I had. He performed my endoscopy and I felt complete confidence in his ability. I would recommend him to anyone who is interested in having this surgery.

Dr. Wilson has a friendly smile. He is very serious about his work and has a professional, and very personable manner. He seems to be quite passionate about his work.

His office staff are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Connie is awesome. She is friendly, very knowledgeable and extremely helpful.

Dr. Wilson is very serious about the risks of surgery. He is constently reminding me that this is a major surgery and that there are many risks, including death.

Gosh, I have nothing negative to say at this time and hopefully I never will. If things continue the way they have been going, I would have to rate Dr. Wilson a NINE. No one is perfect.

He is very energetic with lots of smiles. He was always in a good mood and full of advice and tips which he gave over and over. He's very popular with new patients and it takes a while to get your office visit, but once your in, everythings right on time. He is very meticulous about his work and wants the patient to be as concerned about following the rules before and after sugury as he is. Future patients should know that he will reschedule if you gain more than a few pounds before surgery. They are developing a website for the Memorial Hermann Bariactrics patients to connect and offer support. There is a support group run by a psychiatrist once monthly. I feel confident in my decision in his surgical competence and the bedside manner is excellent. I met about 20 of his actual patients at a required information meeting that I attended. They also reassured me that Dr. Wilson was an excellent choice.

I had VBG surgery with Dr Harberg in 2000--he is an ok surgeon with no bedside manners and he did what I needed at the time!
Since then I gained weight back for various reasons--and some of it that I was having trouble with original surgery! I went to Dr
Wilson and he did revision surgery to RNY on March 28, 2005--day after Easter--MY RESURRECTION!! lol I have lost 17lbs in 4 weeks and feeling good! Am sore a little cause I overdid getting in and out of a HUGE SUV of a friend and overworked those surface muscles on my stomach! Back to work tomorrow--4/26!
LOVE DR WILSON! He is SOOO caring and knowledgeable! Lets hear it for bedside manners and a nurse practitioner that is the best also! He also has a great aftercare program! Harberg had NONE!

Dr. Wilson was the bomb from the start. I have nothing but good things to say about him and his staff at UT Physicians West Loop. Dr. Wilson works in a training environment so you will be seeing a lot of different fellows, students and Dr.s. This is fine with me because it really makes it seem like you get extra care, just my observation. Cant say enough about Connie in Dr. Wilson's office. She is the Bariatric Coordinator for his office and is readily accessible through her pager. Always quick to answer your questions or get in touch with Dr. Wilson if you need him.

Also I would like to say that Wanda at Herman Hospital, who is the Bariatric Coordinator for the hospital, is wonderful and makes sure everything is going well at the hospital.

I have been quite happy with Dr. Wilson and his group. The surgery was easy, and the follow up care has been fantastic. His nurse, Connie, has always responded immediately to my pages, and been willing to handle any issues I have had (and I have had some!).

I was self-pay, so I did not have to deal with insurance.

I have no problems with Dr. Wilson's bedside manner or competence. He is extremely friendly and very knowledgable.

Did I mention that he is drop-dead gorgeous?

1. Very young and GOOD looking!

2. He is a very good surgeon but he needs to have an aftercare program for the lap banding patients.

3. The office staff is friendly but they are virtually non-supportive after the surgery and as I am four hours away they would not give me an appointment and it took two weeks for the nurse to return a call when I was having band problems including breathing problems.

4. I think he needs to tak a more pro-active rold with his laop band patients. He told a crowd we did not want to talk in front of his seminar due to our low weight loss. I am now down 73 pounds and was more than happy to talk.
5. Aftercare - no one even gave me an appointment after my post op visit. No after care. Risks are discussed in terms of gastric bypass with only about ten minutes covering the band in a two hour seminar. I would rate him very high on his surgical skills, LOOKS, and his bed side manner. He does listen and is very caring. Jackie

My first impression was that he is very young, and has not changed. He is very professional and takes every safeguard possible. I have never had so many medical tests! Because of that and the fact that he is associated with the University of Texas, I feel very confident in his ability. His office staff is very helpful. There was truly nothing I didn't like about him. He explains things very well, and also has other members of his staff available for questions. He is very emphatic about the importance of pre-surgical testing and a structured after care program. He was very blunt about the risks associated with surgery. Overall, I think he is great. Surgical competence is much more important to me than bedside manner.

My first impression of Dr. Wilson was plesant. He make you feel very comfortable and he plays devils advocate with you just to make sure you have done some research and know what you are wanting to get yourself into. Because this is a life change event and this surgery is a tool to help you not the miracle. So he wants you to be aware of all the complications, the ups and downs. The staff there is very helpful from the time you walk in to when you call them anxious to know if you've been accepted or what tests you need done. The only bad thing about the office is the office wait but they mention this from your first visit to the informational meeting, and not to call on Tuesdays, which are their busiest days. I think the Lord lead me to a good group for this life changing event.
