I think Dr. Quaid is a wonderful, reassuring man. He takes the time to explain, even after you have spoken with the nurses and feel like you know everything. He sees the person, not the weight.

My first imression of Dr. Quaid was that he was quiet and tall! My impression over the four times I've seen him has not changed except that I liked him better each time I saw him. He has a quiet confidence that appeals to me: perhaps someone else would prefer a doctor with a more jocular manner but he was perfect for me. His office is extremely professional and knows their patients. At my first appointment I was given much information verbally about the surgery itself and what life would be like after the lapband as well as a very detailed notebook with information, websites, addresses to buy supplies, recipes, exercises, eating schedules, etc. The aftercare program is very structured and he sends updates to my primary care physician. Dr. Quaid is a general surgeon and I would want him to do any future surgeries I needed. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I have just had my lapband placement a few days ago so I will update this review after a year.

Totally professional, straight shooting, and the most dedicated Doctor I have ever had the please of meeting. I was a revision and probably one of the tough cases. Dr. Dickinson stood by my bed through 8 weeks of ICU & Surgery recovery. Then supported me through 2 months and rehab. He has also done my wife's RNY surgery. The entire surgical staff at No. Colorado Surgical pitched in a hand to bring me through my ordeal. Let me close by saying there is one other person who has been terrific to deal and this is Becky who is the support nurse. Listen to this lady and she'll help you get through those daily issues.rnrnTom

It's funny how impressions change. When I first went looking for a surgeon the NC Surgical office was at the bottom of my list. I was convinced that to have a good surgeon, I needed on who ONLY did bariatrics. BOY WAS I WRONG! I consulted with several other doctors and had yet to find one I was comfortable with. Everyone else, although a specialy service, just didn't feel right for one reason or another. My insurance company finally sent me to Dr. Quaid, as they were part of \"The centers of Excellence\" when the others were not.rnrn Dr. Quiads office was totally different. From my very first phone call they had a pleasant and calming effect on me. I felt it was my total health they were concerned with not just my weight loss. My friends had warned me that their surgeons had pressured them and other clients into gastric bypass when they realy wanted to do the LaP Band sysytem. I was worried their office would try and do the same. NOTHING like that ever came up. Once I told them I wanted the lap band, that was the direction we went. Of course they touched on the subject and the pros and cons of both types of surgeries but I NEVER felt pressure to go one way or the other. It was totaly my decision and their office was behind me 100%rnrn I'll never forget the first time I met Dr. Quiad. I had seen his picture of course, but never expected the willowy giant that walked into the room. My husband is 6'2\" and Dr. Quaid towers over him. But this giant is ever so gentle. He has a calming and soothing voice that reassures you that you are making the right choice. His smile is totally sincere and brightens the room. The combination of his bedside manner and his skilled surgical technique, makes him by far the top choice for surgeons if you ask me.rnrn NC Surgical does require that you go through a series of preoperative trainings before your surgery. So if your looking for a quick surgical date this is not the place for you. At your consultation appointment you have the option of booking a tenative surgical date. This date will be no less than 6 weeks out. During that six weeks you are required to see a phsychiatrist for a consultation (I think this is great as it prepares you for the emotional roller coaster you are about to ride on) as well as completing nutritional education with a registered dietitician. Dr. Quaids office walks you through each of these steps and makes sure everything is on track for you.rnrnThe people that work with their office also show genuine concern. My counselor contacted me several times during my six week wait and again the day after my surgery just to make sure I was doing okay, and if I had any anxiety or other concerns she could help me with. (Thanks Dr. B for everything!) The hospital surgical staff called me the day after I left the hospital to make sure I was adjusting to being at home okay and if there was anything more they could do to help me recover. rnrn All in all, my experiance with Dr. Quiad and his team has been wonderful. I'm looking forward to my first post op visit when I can thank their staff for the wonderful change they are helping to make in my life. rnrnrnrn

My first meeting with the Dr. and his staff - Great support setup - I very much appreciated all the time they took to answer all of my questions and Dr. Dickinson took the time to go over each of my questions with myself and my husband - The Staff were all very friendly.

I found Dr. Dickinson to be very personable. His office staff is very well trained. They are empathetic and very pleasant. Dr. Dickinson has a strict plan which must be followed. A complete notebook full of information for both before and after surgery is provided to each patient. When you go for your pre-op consultation you are given a test on the material in the book. (I scored 100%). All of the risks of surgery were explained to me in detail, especially the risks associated with my coronary artery disease. Overall I'd give him a top rating. rnrnAfter surgery I had several complications, including a major infection, and was hospitalized a second time. Dr. Dickinson was wonderful. He returned my phone calls, saw me in the office the day I called, and showed immense concern. I also had to have a second surgery two months following the by-pass (unrelated) and again, Dr. Dickinson was superb - explaining everything and taking very good care of me.rnrnThe staff at Poudre Valley Hospital couldn't have been any nicer. They were all so caring, up-to-date on everything, pleasant - I can't say enough good about them all.rnrnAlthough I was very sick due to the complications, I have to say that this was my most positive hospital experience ever - and I have had a lot of them!!

I was very impressed with Dr. Dickinson from my first consultation. He said he was concerned that I had too high of expectations for myself--he's right! He laid out all the risks and I left the consultation with lots of information. His office staff was vey helpful. I ended up back in the hospital for another surgery 7 weeks after RNY, and Dr. Dickinson was very supportive and encouraging. I then ended up having an infection, and he was again encouraging. He didn't make me feel like I was bothering him. I feel that Dr. Dickinson is very competent and he speaks with authority. He is very patient and thorough when answering questions. I would refer friends to Dr. Dickinson with no hesitation.

I love Dr Dickinson! He made me feel valued and respected at the very first meeting. He was very up front with risks, and what I should expect after surgery. He was positive, and professional the day of surgery and made me feel like everything was going to be great! Whenever I am in the office he actually sits down and looks me in the eye! I have never felt rushed or like he didn't have time for questions. He has a wonderful bedside manner! His big smile is very comforting! He is very interested in after care! He always asks if I am happy that I had the surgery. I feel like he is in this with me for the long haul!!!! He attends some of the monthly support meetings. The meetings are awesome because you have access to Surgeons, Nurses, Nutritionist, and people in all stages of their journey! There is no excuse not to have questions answered and get the support needed to achieve and maintain your goals. rnDr. Dickinson seems very interested in the whole person! I would trust him with another surgery! rnThe entire staff is very supportive and understanding. Email me if you have any questions about my experience.
