i first thought taht doc was going to be just anouther doc out there to make money.but boy was i wrong i guess i had gone through life thinking noone would really care enough to help a fat person with out making fun and jokes behind their back ,but after one visit to the first group meeting i attended my whole outlook changed!! these people did care and were truly there to help. this doc was not just there to cut you open and make money he is ther to help you improve your quality of life to cover all the bases and above all to check under every rock so to speak and make sure you are truly going to benifit from his services. he lets you ask and receive answers to your questions and you can ask them over and over again until you feel you understand.i truly believe that doctor t and his whole staff truly care about what is going on with you at any given time no matter how big or small it may be.they let you know from the start that you do matter and we are not alone in this in no way shape or form.so far from the dealings i have had thus far with the staff have been awsome i have called the office on a number of occasions with questions som real important some just a need or want to know type thing and every time i have been kindly and willingly help no matter what time it was and to me this is real important that i feel that i have someone to go to with my thoughts and fears without feeling like i have to pretend to fell a certian way or think a certian way i can truly find out what i need to know, the fact that the make it mandatoroy that you come to support groups and after care is such a great thing at first i was one of those people who thought what the heck i dont need all that crap its just a waste of my time!!! WRONG!!!i find that i want that help and support and that it really makes a difference in the way you truly look at things. remember the staff are people too and the really neat this is they are people like you and me they have been there and done that!! some of them have had the surgery and are on the same path we will soo0n be following and when they say they understand they truly do ,they know what we are feeling and that makes a difference to me to know that can be on that level and share in your care to that extent is just amazing to me . and if any of his staff may read this i just want to say thanks for the sharing as well as the caring.as for the rest of the answers to the questions all i ca say is so far i am totally pleased with the care doc and staff give 100%

My first impression of Dr. Tenewitz was that he really has empathy with the problems of obesity. I like him very much. The thing about this surgeon that I like most though, are the people that he surrounds himself with. The nurses, John and Becky..I haven't had much one on one with Becky yet, but John is a wonderful man. Debbie, the insurance liason, is helpful, optomistic and a good person to have in your corner. Lisa, the head of the support program, is the one everybody depends on for all the answers. Everyone seems to love her. (Went to meeting she headed for pre-op people. She's as neat as everyone says she is)
Everyone who receives this surgery from Dr. Tenewitz becomes part of his 'group'. He doesn't pull any punches about how serious the surgery is or how important aftercare is. He says that..once you have this surgery, you're his patient for life. The support program is excellent. Everyone shows up for "everything". They have a clothing swap..and different programs..one is a fashion show which seems to be a lot of fun.

What a nice man. Soft spoken, confident, answers all questions. We (my wife and I) were taken into a small room to view a short (20 minutes) video. Very informative. The room is quiet with nice funiture. Then we were taken to an exam room and interviewed by John. Great guy. Went over our paperwork and checked for missing items. Then Dr. Tenewitz came in and spoke to us. Great experience.

I met Doctor Tenewitz yesterday at my surgery consult. He seemed very nice and assured of himself, I have no doubts about him and feel very comfortable with my decision now. He was very open and honest about the only death he has ever had with a patient and you could tell that it truly bothered him.

My first impression was one of competence. That impression never changed but, while not unpleasant, he is lacking in bedside manners. Very matter of fact approach! It was also concerning to me that he performed four other surgeries on the day he operated on me. I wasn't until 8pm!
The office staff is extremely upbeat, fun and resourceful. Two of his staff are former bypass patients so they can really relate. Big emphasis on beforecare and aftercare. Structured program is required and an additional $400 fee which is not paid by insurance. He takes this surgery very seriously and expects the same from you. He is very detailed in explaining what he does surgically speaking and why and how that will affect you forever. I'd give him an 8 out of 10. The hospital where he operates, Holmes Regional Medical Center, was an excellent facility with excellent nursing staff. And I can say this...as I am a former nurse.

My first impression was during the suppport meeting. He wanted to ensure that all perspective patients were well informed. The session lasted 2 1/2 hours and was great!

When I met with his staff they were caring, pleasant and not judgmental. Dr. Tenewitz was comforting and willing to answer any concerns I had.

I have a surgery date and just got my approval today from the insurance company. Bonnie at Dr. Tenewitz's office was so excited for me. I feel great...although a little scared.

My family is very supportive. I'm excited for my new life to begin!!!

I'll update more later as time goes by.

My first impression with Dr. T. he he spoke honestly and did not try to sugar coat any thing. Can not wait to meet him in person.I was impressed that he took the time to meet and answer all questions that were asked of him. The rest of his staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Lisa and Cindy have been through this themselves so they know where your coming from.
When I got to see Dr. T one on one he was very caring wanting you to understand both sides of having surgery. Pros and Cons and to make sure you are aware that it won't always be easy but will get easier as the weeks go on.
