OMNI Surgical Weight Loss Center Bariatric Center

FIRST IMPRESSION: Competent
CHANGE TO IMPRESSION: Reinforced - Dr. T knows what he's doing!
STAFF: Lisa and those who work with her are post-op themselves. They honestly do understand individual problems.
LIKE THE LEAST: There were times (especially immediately pre-op) that I felt under-informed in specifics. When I bought my post surgical stock of vitamins and protein powder prior to surgery, I overbought and may never use some of the product due to it's horrid taste. When time to go home from the hospital, rather than shrinking, my girth had expanded and had to do the half-zipper covered with shirt trick.
FUTURE PATIENTS: Due to heavy demand for the surgery, the (manditary) pre-op group meetings are overflowing with people who are examining surgery. Don't let the large number of people get in the way, so far I have observed that Dr. T. paces himself to make sure each patient gets his total attention.
AFTERCARE: It is refreshing to see a Dr. who has created such a positive structured system. He has found a rare jewel in Lisa and the two of them are continually improving the whole patient relations area.
RISKS: Properly addressed.
RATING: A+ (solid) I teach school so I don't give these easily!!
SUPERIOR AREAS: Surgical competence (and that's what I really wanted - after all, those are my insides he's modifying).

My first impression of Dr. Tenewitz was a good one, starting with the fact that he was present and assisting in the monthly meeting. I had attended other meetings and the Surgeon always had a "spokesperson". I also liked the fact that he tells you like it is, he lets you know what is expected of you and if your not serious then you must not be interested. He takes his time and truly cares about your success with the surgery and if you ask questions he leaves nothing unanswered. He is a very cautious surgeon and he has a comforting and uplifting bedside manner, never in a rush. Everyone on his staff is great, all are personable and take their time with you. In my personal opinion, Dr. Tenewitz, Becky, Lisa and John are 10+.

Impressed. Dr. Tenewitz has a support group that meets once a month and he is there for those meetings. One is for pre-op and another for post op. He cares for his patients is knowledgeable and very personable. He has a great office staff. They treat you as though you have been coming there for years. Debbie gets together all the information you need for the insurance company. They must be doing something right, I was approved in less than a week, from a company who had earlier denied someone else I knew. When Bonnie from the office called to tell me I had been approved, she sounded just as excited as I was.

I can't sing Dr. Tenewitz's praises enough! He is the most compassionate Dr. I've dealt with. He truly cares about his patients! He follows up with you and makes sure you are doing well.
For those considering WLS that is in the Central Florida area I highly recommend Dr. Tenewitz. He has a support group meeting on the first Wednesday of every month. He explains the process in great detail.
As far as his office staff, I send my kudos to them also. They are highly efficient, caring and dedicated! Lisa, the patient consultant, is always there to lend a shoulder to lean on and to listen. She is truly an angel! Debbie, the insurance coordinater, what can I say but she is the girl with the golden tongue! If there is a way to get approval from insurance, she'll get it done! Bonnie, the appt. scheduler, she gets you scheduled ASAP and is always so kind with the nervous pre-ops. I hope I didn't leave anyone out because they are all wonderful!!

My first impression of the doctor was okay , but after sometime I really was excited and I was very comfortable with Dr.Tenewitz, His office staff is great and have always been friendly to me from bonnie to lisa to becky and John and the doctor himself all of which are very qualified to do what they do. Dr.T emphasizes aftercare this is essential for a great recovery which includes the support groups which they conduct on a monthly basis and are very informative.Dr.T addresses all the risks involved in the surgery and also explains how the risks underweigh the risks of being overweight. I think Dr. T handles himself very professional and tries to be very imformative. Dr.T surgical competence is the most important but he also has great bedside manners. I would recommend Dr. T to my famliy or my friends . He was there for me when I needed him and I am confident he will be there for you as well if you need him.

DR. T' IMPRESSED ME THE VERY FRIST TIME I MEET HIM AND HIS STAFF. HE WAS VERY HONEST AND HE HAS TWO GOLDEN RULES ONE MUST FOLLOW THIS ALL HE ASK OF ALL OF US.HE IS VERY MILD MANNER AND CONCERN ABOUT ALL OF PEOPLE .LISA AND DOONA ARE GREAT AND THEY ARE SO PLEASNT WITH YOU AND TRY TO HELP IN ANY AND ALL KINDS OF WAYS.TRY TO ATTEND THE SUPPORT MEETING AND UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE.HE STRIVES ON AFTER CARE AND ASK EVERYONE TO MANITAIN ALL APPOINTMENT.HE WAS UP FRONT ABOUT THE RISK AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTION..I CAN NOT COMMENT ON THE BEDSIDE MANNER BECAUSE I HAVE NOT HAD THE SURGERY YET, BUT I WAS TOLD HE IS GREAT..ATHENA

I met Dr T at one of his support groups. I felt he was a little shy, but certainly knew what he was doing and talking about. I knew then I wanted him to be my surgeon. After I had my one on one with him, I was very confident that I had chosen the right surgeon. He went over everything, the procedure and how it was done, letting me know all the risks involved, all of my questions were answered before I even ask them. But was a little concerned that he never ask if I had any concerns or questions. And his office staff are wonderful, Debbie his nurse and Bonnie when you check out makes sure you have all you need. And of course there is Lisa, his gate keeper who gets you started. A very sweet outgoing person. They know what it takes to get the insurance approval and make sure you leave there with everything you need to get done to send back in for the approval. He really stresses the importance of strictly following his aftercare program and diet, also attending post op support groups. I feel very confident placing my new life in Dr Tenewitz's hands.

I wasn't sure what to think, I did feel he knew what he was doing. I didn't care if he had beside manner of not.
After surgery I discovered he also had beside manner, and genuinely cares about each one of his patients and their families.
As his patient base grows I feel there will be a need for more staff. Already too many patients for the patient consultant to handle. At this time I am not getting the consultation I need. I am having to go on the internet for help and support. His after care is matter of fact. He requires you to attend monthly post-op meetings. And there are diet modifications as you go along. The doctor was right up front with the risks of surgery my fear was the anesthesiologist, they didn't seem to care one moment of your fears. I threatened to halt surgery because of mine. I would rate Dr. Tenewitz as very competent and an added bonus he's got a pleasant bedside manner as well.

I am hoping my surgeon will be Dr Tenewitz. I have attended his required support group meetings, and like him, like his staff, and am really impressed by the life long committment this group makes to it patients.
I am scheduled shortly with patient care coordinator, and am hoping Dr Tenewitz will in turn choose me as a patient.
02/03/02 I have attended a couple more support meetings, I have met with Lisa, the Patient Consultant, I have met with Dr Tenewitz, and the only change in my opinion is my increased confidence of him and his team being absolutely the best! I choose Dr T initially due the aftercare and support you recieve, but his knowledge, patience, and manner are all very professional and exceptional. His team is well informed, supportive, Debby, Bonnie, Lisa, the whole group just gets behind you and gives you no reason whatso ever to not be 100% successful.
I think very highly of this group!

I met him at the WLS support group meeting. He was very explicit and had a concerned air about him. He has a DRY sense of humor. I think he is actually SHY. Today (2-22-02) I met with his patient advocate Lisa and went over what I needed for approval and general feelings and desires that I had for my future. I will meet with Dr. Tenewitz one-on-one on 2-14. I will then schedule surgery if that is what the Good Lord decides. The program is NOT simple as the Surgery is NOT simple. This is spelled out to the patient very well. I recieved a very thourough booklet with risks and benefits, diet concerns and there is an area for question that I need to fill out prior to my meeting with him.
Met with him on 2-1-02 as they called me with an earlier opening. Explained all questions I had written down before I asked them. He is also placing a band on "my new little stomach" so that it will only stretch to 4-6 ounces. He was wonderful, and he scheduled me for 4-2-02
