I am 10 years post-OP from RNY gastric bypass surgery performed by Dr. Hyland and I highly recommend this surgeon. I originally weighed 455 pounds and my current weight is 250. My lowest was 203, so I've put on a little bit, but I'm still have over a 210# weight loss since Feb 2003. I can't believe 10 years have gone by since my surgery. I've done A LOT of living in 10 years that would not have been possible. If you're in the Delray/Boca area, I highly recommend that you look into this surgeon.

Dr. Hyland is a wonderful doctor along with his partner Dr. Breslaw! These two men change so many lifes and do so much fo so many people. Not only are the doctors wonderful but their staff is always so nice and caring also! They support you through this life change and I couldn't ask for more from any doctor! If I was to make this decision all over again I would and not change a thing!

My first impression was incrediable. Dr B took his time in explaining the procedure and requirements and spents a lot of time giving me the opportunity to ask questions. He had a very good bed side manner and became a very good friend. I dont think there was anything I didnt like about him. He and his partner work very close together on cases such as these. Dr B stresses how much aftercare is important, he has even called me on occassion personally, if he hasnt heard from me. He addressed the risk in the office and at the support groups. The support groups were very informative and helpful in many ways. I would rate him and his staff a perfect 10. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are good.

At my first meeting i knew i was going to use him as my surgeon.he is so nice and he answered all my questions,i felt so comfortable with him i trusted him completly.the day of the surgery my husband met him and was made at ease and he knew by the few minutes of talking to him that i was in good hands.i was in and out within an hour and walking in 2 hours.i went home the next day at 6pm.he said i was the fastest patient he ever sent home early,but i was a great patient with no complications at all.i recommend him to everyone who asks who my dr was.i rate him and his staff a 10++++++++

She is the best!!!!!!!!! I could not have found a better doctor. She is so sweet and caring. Her bed side manner is great. She had made me feel like her friend. I felt completely safe in her hands. I can't describe in words how wonderful she is. I am very lucky to have found her. She is an angel!

DR.Hyland has the best bedside manner that i ever saw.He is caring with his patients and he listens to what you have to say.I recommend him to anyone who asks if i know a surgeon that does gastric bypass.To me he is the best there is.

My first impression was wonderful. She has a good sense of humor and seems very caring. I am just upset that I am having to wait to schedule the surgery even though everything is completed and the lab results are back. The office staff overall is very helpful. At first I was dealing with Jamie and she was friendly when you were able to get in touch with her but that was few and far between and she just didn't seem as aggressive or on the ball as I felt she needed to be. As for the person that I am dealing with now her name is Dedra and she is very helpful and very easy to get a hold of and returns your phone calls and has answers pretty quick. I haven't scheduled the surgery yet but they promise me it should be scheduled this week. My fingers are crossed.
My surgery was scheduled and went well. My surgeon was wonderful and the follow up care as been exceptional! Thank you Dr. Mary Murphy and staff.

Dr. Breslaw and Dr. Hyland are both excellent surgeons. I found them to be very supportive and caring. I had my pre-op meeting with Dr. Breslaw and he addressed all the risks involved with this surgery. I liked the fact that he was honest and told me what to expect after the surgery. He answered all my questions. I didn't meet Dr. Hyland until post-op in the hospital. He made sure I was alright and that I wasn't in any pain. I was impressed with his bedside manner. The office staff has been wonderful to me. They all are very competent and always happy to help in any way that they can. I am extremely happy that Dr. Breslaw and Dr. Hyland did my surgery. I will never forget what they've done for me!

I really like Dr. Murphy, she is very down to earth and explained everything clearing an made me feel very comfortable about going through this procedure. This was my first surgery ever and I had a lot of anxiety.

My impression never did change. She is a great lady who cares about her patients.

They were very helpful as well. Professional & responded to any calls/questions quickly.

I would have liked to see her during my hospital stay; didn't get to see her until I had my first post op appt. I did see other Dr's of the surgical team, but it would have been nice to see her (although I do realize that they are very busy, so it wasn't a big issue).

I would highly recommend Dr. Mary Murphy. I have absolutely no complaints.

Both most definately. A competent surgeon is of the utmost importance but if you aren't comfortable with the surgeon, or if they don't make you feel like they genuinally care about you, you will have doubts about them.
