Dr. Breslaw and Dr. Hyland perform all of their bariatric surgeries together. They are a great team and have a lot of experience doing this surgery. They only perform the RNY and have never had to complete an open operation. Their office staff has been a joy to work with. It took me 16 months to get my date, but that is not a reflection on the doctors or their staff. Insurance companies are eliminating the surgery and I went through 3 different companies before finding one to allow the surgery.

I have been attending the support group at the hospital in preparation for the surgery. I will let you know more about my experience post op!

My impression of Dr. Mary Murphy was excellent. I am only sorry that she is no longer affillated with Kaiser Permanente, but has ventured out on her own. She is an excellent Doctor. My impression has not changed regarding her ability or professionalism. Her office staff was very professional as she was in with 4 other Doctors. She is kind and caring and very thoughtful. She went over all the good and bad things that could happen during the surgery so you would have a clue on what was going to happen. I only had a chance to see her a couple of times after surgery due to the fact as stated above she was no longer with Kaiser.
I would rate her absolutely an amazing Doctor.
Her surgical competence and bedside manner was wonderful.

MURPHY I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT SHE BE YOUR CHOICE WHAT WAS NECESSARY REGARDING AFT. CARE...I WOULD HALF TO SAY THE AFT. CARE COOULD HAVE BEEN MORE STRUCTERED...THAT INFO CAME FROM MY DR. AT KAISER DURING THE PROGRAM...OVERALL BIG A....BOTH SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BED SIDE MANNERS SHE WAS GOOD KNOW DOUBT...I FELT AT EASE WITH HER DEMANER

Mary Murphy was caring, knowledgeable, non-judgemental, and to the point. My impression of her is still the same. Staff seemed professional and efficient. My only criticism of the staff is that my phone messages were not always returned in a timely manner. I liked everything that I saw about her. She doesn't mess around and expects you to hold up your end of the deal. That, I found to be a good motivator. Aftercare at Pacific Bariatrics is of the utmost importance, you must commit to you post op appointments for life. (once per year, after the 1st year.) Surgery risks were explained to me, I felt in a realistic way. Mary Murphy is a great surgeon-everything went perfectly. Surgical competence is the most important, but it's nice to have a good bedside manner. This is my personal experience.

Dr. Breslaw and his staff have come very highly recommended to me by others in the medical field. I have been to the support group meeting and found it very insightfull and comfortable.

I liked Dr. Mary Murphy. She was very friendly and caring. She made me feel like we were in this "together."

The staff at Pacific Bariatrics (San Diego, CA) were friendly and helpful.

The after care is impressive, supportive, and accessible.

The risks were explained in detail. All my questions were answered completely.

The surgery went well, the post-op care, and bedside manner were excellent.

Dr. Mary has been completely supportive and understanding throughout the entire process. she was wonderful while I was in the hospital, especially when I experienced some complications. I have had 3 postop appointments with her, and she always greets me as a dear friend that she hasnt talked to in awhile, and I know that she cant remember everyone, but she makes me feel special. Dr. Mary always spends time with me, and answers all my questions, which are quite a few. She never makes me feel rushed, even though I know that other patients are waiting. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give her a 10+ rating.. she is the greatest!!!

I injoyed her approch to the surgery at her simnar on june 29th of 2004, and no change ,I have met with her for my consaults and was very pleased with her,very nice and inforamtive ,I had no dislikes about her at all , that she is very good and very carering for the well being and the assistance to help other with their weight loss too.I feel that I will be fine during and after surgery I have alot of support from my family and my husband is behind me one hundred percent , and alot of support from my coworks where I work at alo,for informative when she was asked about the risks I feel that this surgery will benifet me an others wanting to be healthier and hapy with there own self being, 100 percent knowlagable to all that she does for everyone that ask for her to do this procedure,I belive all aplly to her.

Dr. Murphy is profissional, kinder than need be and very supportive. i would highly recommend her. The office is a group of 5 surgeons and the staff is professional as well. I found nothing I did not like about her.
