Plymouth General Surgery Bariatric Center

April 2007- My first impression of Dr. Koren, was that he is a very patient and kind man, that has a genuine concern for all of his patients. His staff is amazing and I can't say enough about the baratric coordinator, Mandy.rnI am currently waiting for insurance approval, then a surgery date.rnrn7/11/07 Update: I was approved for my surgery and it is scheduled for 8/21/07. rnrn11/2/07Update: I had my surgery and I am now 2 months post-op. I am down 63 pounds and I feel fantastic. Dr. Koren is the best!

Dr. Koren is the best, he spends more time with each patient than any Dr. I have ever met. He attends each support group meeting and when you speak with him he knows you. rnrnIf all doctors had his bedside/office side manner we would all be much better off.rnrnI can not compliment Dr. Koren enough, he was a superb professional and my WLS went flawlessly. Anyone in the Lehigh Valley who does not look at Dr. Koren for their surgey is missing an opportunity for a superb surgical experience.rnrnThe entire bariatric team from the Doctor, office staff, coordinator, nutritionist and hospital staff were excellent.

Dr. Koren and his staff have thus far been amazing. The monthly support group meetings are very informative! My surgery is scheduled for 9/20/07. I am using most of my spare time to read and research as much as possible. I am thankful for the opportunity at a second chance- I am NOT screwing it up this time. I want to be prepared!! Good Luck to anyone on this journey!

Dr. Koren is very personable. He answered all of my questions and I felt comfortable with him during my consultation. Also stressed very important details about the aftercare of surgery.rn

I initially met Dr. Koren in October 2004 when he performed revisionary surgery on my sister (after she had suffered an unsuccessful gastric by-pass in January 2004 by another surgeon). I met him during one of his Saturday support group meetings and very much appreciated the fact that he took the time out of his busy schedule to explain to me how he was going to revise my sister's procedure. During the year in which my sister followed up with him I found him to be an exceptionally competent, caring and concerned physician with a wonderful bedside manner. His assistant, Mandy Nyce, and the rest of his office staff were equally knowledgeable and concerned about my sister and were quick to respond to any questions and concerns that she had. Therefore, once I was approved for WLS myself, I had no hesitation or reservation in scheduling the procedure with Dr. Koren. He has a very organized and strict before and aftercare program and thoroughly discussed both the pros and cons of the surgery with me several times before the procedure. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Dr. Koren an 11. rnrnI had my surgery on 11/3/05 and as of 01/14/06 I've lost 40 lbs. and counting. I've moved from PA to Florida and have gone back to two of my loves - gardening and bowling. rnrnToday is 8/5/07 - Just wanted to give everyone an update on my progress. I'm feeling absolutely terriffic. I've now lost more than 150lbs and have never felt better physically or emotionally in my adult life. I've gone from wearing a size 28W to wearing size 6/8 or XS, which is the smallest size I've ever worn. I'm able to exercise and enjoy walking, dancing and enjoy frequent trips to the local amusement parks in our area - things I was not able to do before the surgery.rnrnAlthough I now live in Florida, when people ask about my WLS surgeon, I still sing Dr. Koren's praises.

I met with Dr. Koren on July 25 for the first time. I was very impressed. He seems to be very compassionate, kind and listens to what you have to say. Very willing to answer any questions you might have. I have talked with Mandy Nyce, RN Bariatric Coordinator several times. She call you back right away to answer your questions. Overall, I have been impressed so far. I have to go through the diet for 3 months before I can get insurance approval. So I don't have a date yet. But I know I will soon.

I Think Dr.koren is the best choice I could have made. My first impression was that he was very softspoken and knowledgeable about the procedure. His staff is great especially Mandy the Bariatric nurse coordinator. All the risks were explained to me fully. I rate him a 7 at this point he still has alot to prove to me..... I HAVE HAD SURGERY AS OF 7/24 AND WELL .............HE'S A 10.. I was scared about Easton Hospital....I had no reason to be...I have been at all the local hospitals and worked at them Im a nurse..I had the BEST care I have ever had..I was given care like I was the only person in that hospital.......Dr Koren and Mandy and all the people that work together on your case have you as the priority and you will know it....I could not have asked for a better experience....I tell anyone who asks ...Dr Koren IS the premier bariatric surgeon in the Lehigh Valley....Wow I got lucky

I cannot say enough about Dr. Koren and his staff. Everyone has been so wonderful. I urge anyone who is considering this surgery to go see Dr. Koren...they will not be disappointed. His professionalism is outstanding.

Dr. Koren is a true Gentleman! He took so much time explaining the procedure and was very patient with all my questions. He is truly interested in each and every case as a real person. His staff was instrumental in helping me get a speedy approval. His hospital staff were so caring and sympathtic during my stay. He is also very involved with aftercare and support groups. I regard him as the best Doctor I've ever had to deal with - his surgical excellence and bedside manner are second to none!

Dr. Koren was very imformative and took all the time I needed to answer any questions I may have had. The office staff was more then great..Mandy the Bariatric Coordinator was a true lifesaver, she always took time to answer questions, promptly returned phone calls and was just all together there for me.
