Dr. O'brien is a skilled, knowledgeable and confident Dr. As a patient you must have your questions written out and ready to ask because if you do not, he doesn't give you a lot of info beyond the basics. If you do have questions he will take his time to answer them. I rate him very high.

Dr. O'Brien was great - I was very nervous at first, but he just sat down and talked to me and explained everything in detail. He was very thorough with his explanations to all my questions. His office staff were great, they called me by name, were friendly, and made me feel very comfortable. Aftercare was greatly emphasized, he told me what would be expected of me and that I would need several return appointments with him, especially the year following my surgery. Risks were given, including the difference in risks between the different surgeries. Overall I would rate Dr. O'Brien a 10 out of 10 - I have had a great experience with him thus far. Which is better, surgical competence or bedside manner? - well I'm lucky because he has both! But I would say that going in to surgery - surgical competence would be top on my list.

First impression was good. I was prepared to meet him after reading all the testemonials from many of his patients.

He was as I imagined to be knowledgable and to the point. I forgot to ask a few questions but they can be answered by his staff. My husband went with me and had some questions of him own.

He told us of all the risks but did not hesitate to tell me what surgery would probably be best for me.

I chose this doctor of the referal of a person I know who had done extensive research of him and the procedure.

I was referred to Dr. OBrien by my family physician. The first time I met with him he was nice and sincere man. His staff is very nice also and very easy to work with. They are very busy but they will always return your calls either that day or the next so be sure to leave a message. The day of my surgery he was in about 45 minutes before surgery wanted to know if I had any more questions and told my husband what time surgery would get started and talked with him as soon as I was done. The next day he was in to see me 3 times in one day to make sure everything was going well. The next day he was in bright and early he is an early riser. I went home that day. Very genuine doctor and I would recommend to anyone.

Awesome Doctor. Very knowledgeable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. He was very quick with his initial appointment, but there wasn't much to discuss other than I need the surgery and what kind I am interested in. He seemed very caring and thorough. My husband was there as well as my kids (this is a family situation) and he seemed to appreciate that. He has done these types of WLS for over 25 years. I have faith in him and he seems confident. I don't know if I walked out with all of my questions answered. I didn't think of some of them until I left the office. I was told by the front desk that I could call at any time with any questions I had. I felt kind of rushed. I guess I was expecting him to ask more questions than he did.

My first impression was that Dr. Obrien is a very serious professional, did not say much but got to the point.
Dr. Obrien came into the pre surgery room and checked in on me to see how I was doing, that made me feel good to know he cared.He also came into recovery to check on my progress.
His office staff has been excellent.
Dr. Obrien is a no nonsense surgeon that get's the job done.

I thought he was very professional. He seemed to care about wanting to make me healthier. He has been very concerned and followed up nicely as far as aftercare goes. All his nurses have been great and if you have a ?, they get to it in an appropriate time. I have to say thanks for giving me my life back.
