Sept. 4, 2006 - Dr. Glatt did my surgery July 17th and all went very well. We were very nervous but Dr. Glatt has so much confidence in his skills that you are immediately put at ease. His nurse is wonderful and very accomodating. I can definitely say that I am so glad that I had the surgery. At 7 weeks out I have lost 47 1/2 pounds.rnrnJune 21, 2006, Dr. Glatt did my colonoscopy and endoscopy today. I really like him and I appreciate the fact that he is doing some extra tests due to my history with cancer. He remembered me from the last time we met which was nice. rnrnMy husband and I met Dr Glatt for the first time yesterday (May 19, 2006). We both really liked him and felt comfortable with his knowledge, skills, and training. He seems very thorough and wants to take some extra precautions because of my history with cancer. Dr. Graham didn't leave a great first impression, but I am glad I stuck around. My first appointment started off dismally. I had to wait over 1.5 hours as he'd had emergency surgery, then when I first saw him I was so disappointed. He was quiet, somewhat aloof, and just not what I expected. Then we started to talk.rnI was so pleasantly surprised. He took the time to listen to me and to explain the different options available to me. He explained what and how things would progress and even drew diagrams. We talked over the pros and cons and he wasn't offended when I asked if he'd ever \"lost\" anyone. Instead he answered each question truthfully and completely. When he left the office, I was confident in him and assured that I was making a good decision. rnA real plus to the experience is Sheryl, his nurse. She is so good about answering questions, working with the insurance, fielding my concerns and just making me feel special. rnIf you are looking for a dynamic, stong doctor, perhaps Dr. Graham is not your doctor. If you are looking for a competent, confident doctor who will treat you with respect, this is your doctor. rnSioux Valley Hospital has been very good with their pre op classes and post op support groups. All in all this has been a good experience.

First impression was that he is very good and very busy, he does primarily all Lap Bands these days. He told me I was a good candidate for Lap Band, that he wouldn't consider me for RNY, as I would lose too much. His office was very helpful, even before my first consultation and also got my letter off to my insurance ASAP, which resulted in approval.I also went thru an internet program called My Emmi, which went thru the surgery in detail, along with the risks. He has a very structured aftercare program. Dr. O'Brien doesn't have the coziest bedside manner but I believe him to be the best surgeon for Lap Band in the area.

I chose Dr. O'Brien because a friend had him do her lap band and was very pleased. Once I had his name, I checked this forum to read what others had to say about him...all good! I met with him on Nov. 7 and was very impressed. Not a chatty person, but that's OK...I am much more interested in his surgical abilities than visiting. His demeanor gives the impression of competence and confidence, which helps me feel confident. Our visit was short but he answered my few questions thoroughly and discussed the risks and emphasized the fact that aftercare program participation is crucial. I feel very comfortable knowing that he will perform the surgery.

Fine surgeon all around. I have not had any problems at all and have been post op for over a year. Not a huge talker; if you don't have questions your meetings will be short but don't let that concern you. I would recommend him to anyone.

We met with surgeon, I had done a lot of research. This site was the most helpful. He was a very nice, business like, but caring person. He is still the same way. His staff was very nice, many of them have had the same surgery.

I highly recommend him to anyone. he was very kind and supportive. i visited with two other surgeons before him. i also knew a nurse from the surgery room and she said that he was the best. Sioux Vally hospitial was also very good.

Dr O'Brien is very straight forward, but seems to genuinely care about you. Didn't have a lot to say that first visit, but his staff has been great. I tend to like his quiet, formal attitude, makes me feel like he's serious about his work, which is what I want! :o)

A bit cold but businesslike and competent.

My meeting with Dr. O'Brian have been short. I have had no reason to change my impression of him.

The staff seems to be competent and efficient.

I would have liked to have been able to have longer meetings with him both before and after surgery.

There is a structured aftercare program and patients are strongly advised to participate.

He explaned what could go wrong, the remedial actions that might be necessary and the odds of different outcomes.

I would let him do surgery on me again if I needed it.

While bedside manner is nice I would put a higher value on surgecal competence.
