After attending many informational meetings,we first met Dr. Mattar at his support/informational meeting. He was soft spoken, honest and kind. His gentle demeanor
and genuine concern about his patients makes him stand out over the many arrogant surgeons
who dominate the field. Dr. Mattar has extensive knowledge, credentials and experience. He is extremely thorough. He continues to see his patients in aftercare which is also staffed with a team of medical professionals who have had the surgery. They are very compassionate and competent. On the downside,his secretary can be rude and the wait is long. However,my husband and I felt that he was worth the long wait. Neither of us have had any complications and are grateful to Dr. Mattar for giving us a new lease on life.

Dr.Mattar is a very good surgeon, with an exceptional bedside manner. He is very caring, and he puts your fears @ ease. His after care program is very structured. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate him a 10-the man is dedicated to his craft.

Dr. Mattar made a very nice first impression. He is a part of 5 surgeons at Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa's bariatric surgical center. They all came very highly recommended. Most of the office staff are very friendly and helpful. First they conduct a workshop explaining surgery and answer any questions you have, along with a booklet with all types of info,they also explain all tests and exams you may need either for them or for your insurance. My surgery took a while because he wanted to be thorough and ordered an endoscopy to check on something which then turned into 3 of them. He is very thorough. He had other obligations following my surgery, but the physician who assisted him (whom I mwt before surgery) took over my post-op in the hospital, When I had an extreme problem with gas after Dr. Mattar came in to see what i needed done. They do emphazize aftercare and have a great program after the surgery. I have made a few calls to ask questions and have had the best advice from his nurse who has had the surgery herslef I also would be able to talk to the doctor himself if I needed to. Dr. Mattar has a gentle and completely pleasant beside manner and is an extremely compentent surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone I could!

He seemed very nice. I haven't really had a one on one session yet. He spoke during class. His assistants are very friendly and always call me right back.

My first impression was a good one. He was very down to earth and approachable. He put me at ease. Still pre-op so will have more to say later.

dr. mattar is the best, he has the best bedside manner i have ever seen, and i work in a hospital!he is very caring and makes sure your family knows what is going on during surgery.

I first met Dr Mattar when he stopped in to see my brother last year after his surgery. He seemed very nice. I finally had my pre-op consult for my surgery with him on May 4th. I found him to be very professional yet still willing to answer any questions I may have. I will be participating in a very structured aftercare program. I feel very confident in Dr Mattar's surgical competence and am content with his bedside manner thus far. Dr. Mattar was wonderful when I had my surgery. I saw him before my surgery and was teasing him. Then after my surgery whenever he came to see me he was always informative and told me how great I was doing. His bedside manner is very good. He was always holding my hand as he spoke to me. I loved his personal touch combined with extensive knowledge. I would recommend him to anyone considering this surgery. He is a great surgeon and wonderful gentleman. It took me a long time to get this surgery scheduled but it was so worth the wait. I am already losing weight and will forever be grateful to Dr Mattar. I thank God for him.

I felt comfortable with Dr. Mattar the first time that I spoke with him. He was very kind and compassionate from the beginning. I became more fond of him the more I spoke with him. Staff is very busy, but professional. There was nothing that I could say I liked least, maybe more time with him but how could he take care of other patients if he is devoting too much to one person. He is fantastic. Extremely professional. My scars are less than quarter inch, no staples, he used glue, I am up and functioning and my surgery was three days ago. He has a very structured aftercare program. He was very upfront and honest with me about the surgery. I would rate Dr. Mattar a 10 from 1-10, he is ranked in the top 5% in the entire country for performing this surgery. He has both surgical competetence and bedside manner. He is a dream.

He was a very nice guy. I could tell he cared about the needs of the patients. I haven't spoken one on one with him yet, just in my first group meeting. He gave very good explainations about how each surgery is different making it easier to deside which to choose. I think his whole team at Magee are very well trained and very different than an other surgeren i had previously considered. His team is in depth and works to make sure every patient knows everything they ever question.
