Dr. Kwon is a great doctor. He has helped me a lot in my decidion for the sugery. His office staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Kwon emphasizes aftercare very nuch. He says that its one of the most inportant things from the surgery. I would give Dr. Kwon a 10!

He is a wonderful and caring doctor and his staff is extremely supportive

I love Dr. Kwon and his entire office staff. The hospital was also wonderful and very supportive as well.

my first impression was terrible, i thought he hated fat people, and i thought he was way too hard on me. i had to lose 10 lbs. prior to surgery and quit smoking to be approved for surgery. ever try to quit smoking and lose weight at the same time?very difficult. im only 1 week post op so far i still think he does not like fat people, i think he is way to hard on me. his office staff are the best.his staff went over everything with me before during and after effects. they all are a great team. my suggery was a success and i had my 1st post op appt. and i was not getting enough liquids in so i felt like i getting yelled at.but i guess it is better to have a competant doctor than one who is not. but my surgery was a success and that i owe to dr kwon. would i reccomend him to someone ? yes.

I had my surgery in Cooperstown NY by Dr. Wayne Weiss on Nov. 19, 2002. He is an outstanding surgeon.
When I first met him I could tell he was very serious and to the point. I found/find him very easy to talk to. He explains everything and answers all questions. When I had my surgery he made many visits to see me and check on me. His secretary Jennifer is so very helpful and is alwasy quick to help any way she can.
Dr. Weiss and his team has a very structured aftercare program and as long as you follow the rules the weight will come off.
Overall I go to Dr. Weiss for any surgery he has my full trust.

Last summer (2003) I became interested in the possibility of having the Lap-Band procedure. To learn about it, I went to Columbia Presb. in NYC for a lecture on Lap-Band. It was one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life. For 2 hours we had to sit and listen to unfriendly technicians with bad attitudes, giving their opinions instead of medical information to everyone in the audience. The surgeon never showed up for the lecture, which was the final straw. A few months later I heard about Dr. Kwon in Port Jervis, NY. All my friends advised me to stay with the bigger NYC institution and doctors, but once I met Dr. Kwon and his staff, I knew I found the person I could trust to perform this procedure on me. His staff at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis are wonderful, caring dieticians, cardiac/pulmonary technicians and nurses. I received excellent care following my operation. The lesson here is that we don't always have to go to New York City for the best in Medicine. Dr. Kwon, his staff and everyone at little Bon Secours Hospital are the best!

My first impression of Dr Weiss was that he was a no nonsense kind of guy! He tends to talk down to his patients and makes comments that a doctor that is dealing with over weight people really should not make. However, over time I have come to respect him and he is a very caring surgeon. I had to remind myself that I was more impressed by his surgical skill than his personality. He is a "just the facts, Ma'am" kind of surgeon and he really does not have the time or patience to be anything else.
The office staff at Bassett Healthcare is second to none! What a great bunch of compassionate and caring people.
Future patients should know that Dr Weiss leaves no stone unturned. He is extremely dillignet and completes a number of tests pre-op to insure the best possible post-op for all of his patients. While some may find this time consuming, I appreciated all the pre-op work ups because I knew that Dr Weiss was ensuring the best possible outcome for me.
The after care at Bassett as a whole is not the greatest. I felt all alone when I came home from the hospital. This is being addressed from many sides. No one called to see how I was doing and my first appointment post-op did not happen until 3 weeks later. I felt that the very hands on involvement pre-op would carry over to the post-op side, but I was sad to find that it simply did not!
Dr. Weiss is a much better surgeon than a "friend". I learned to appreciate that and came to realize that I would much rather have a surgeon with his level of competence than to have a surgeon with great bedside manners. I never felt like anything bad was going to happen to me as long as Dr Weiss was performing the surgery.
I am 5 months post op now and re-reading this I can say that things have gotten much better at Bassett now. The program there just passed its one year mark and they are adding a lot of new things all the time. Dr. Weiss is still no nonsense, but I realize that he was making sure that I was as serious as I should be about this surgery and the changes it would bring to my life.

My 1st impression of Dr. Peter Kwon was that he seemed very nice and made me feel as if he really cared about my well being.
The more I meet with Dr. Kwon the more I like.
Dr. Kwon's office....wow they are on the ball and when they say they will do something....man they really get down to it.
I feel thats partly why I'm having my surgery so soon.
For any future patients of Dr. Kwon don't think of him as a doctor...more as a friend. Dr. Kwon will help you in anyway he can.

My first impression, very very knowledgable. His office staff is extremely helpful. I have never been to a Dr's office where the staff has been so friendly and answered any question quickly.
