Wiregrass Surgical Associates Bariatric Center

My referral from my PCP was to see Dr. Fendley who I think is a wonderful man as he did my gallbladder surgery several years ago. But as it turned out I had to see his new partner Dr. Beaver. I was concerned about this as I was already comfortable with Dr.Fendley but he was booked up they said. So I made the appt. to see Dr.Beaver July 23rd but I was nervous. We saw Dr. Beaver and he has very nice and answered all our questions, explained all the risks, and made sure we knew this was no little minor type surgery it is the real deal and how it would effect everything that happens in the future. They gave us a booklet to read and a videotape to watch about WLS. I was impressed with him. I did ask him that when they do the surgery if possible could Dr. Fendley assist him as they use two docs in every case. He said he would see what he could do. They have a very good aftercare program and are very concerned about your progress in this life changing surgery. You see their dietician and PT folks and they even have their own psych doc to do your eval. It takes a little bit to get to see all of them but in the long run the end result will be a good one I Hope. I am hoping for a quick approval from the insurance folks. Thanks to all the staff at Dr. Beaver's office!

My first impression of Dr. Robbins was that he seemed to understand how I felt completely. The surgery went perfectly, but I did have some complications afterwards due to my diabetes. Dr. Robbins was right there the second time around. They even went in and rechecked the surgery. My husband's opinion of him is not nearly as high as mine, because he sat in the intensive care waiting room for 20 hours with no update on my condition. I guess doctors will be doctors, as he tried to pass the buck over to the other doctors.

My experience with the surgery preparations starting with Dr. Robbins was extremely easy and very pleasant. Dr. Robbins was very informative, knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. He put me at ease right away. He seemed to know what struggles I had been through with my weight problem. He told me what we were going to do from day one all through the surgery process. He gave me some guideline he expected me to follow if I wanted to go through with this surgery. He wanted me to be prepared well in advance for this life changing experience. The steps involved in this surgery was somewhat time consuming; but, it was almost too easy. He was there for me from day one and he's still there now if I need him. I have not had any real problems with Dr. Robbins or his staff and I would send or take anyone considering this surgery to him in a heartbeat.

All I can say is , he's the best!

Dr Robbins is the greatest, he makes you feel very comfortable and secure. He always answers any questions I have or that my family members have. I am sure the other associates of the group (Wiregrass Surgical Associates of Dothan, AL) are all wonderful, but Dr Robbins is the greatest! I feel very comfortable with him being my wls doc and I know that when I am on the losing side, he will still be right there. There may be faults with him, but as far as I have experienced, I have had no negative experiences.

My first impression of Dr. Robbins was a very good one. He was very proffessional and had a calming nature to him that made me feel very at ease. He is part of a general surgery practice and sometimes the waiting time for an appointment is long but it is well worth the wait. Dr. Robbins thouroughly explained the procedure and the risks involved with this surgery. He also took me through other methods of bariatric surgery that were once used but are no longer considered due to the advances in the field. Dr. Robbins is a very proffesional doctor but he has a nice bedside manner as well. He has always treated me with respect and genuine concern for my health. I feel he is a very competent surgeon, my incisions look wonderful and I had very little pain. I know I made the correct decision for myself.

My first impression of Dr. Fendley was a very good one. This impression is very accurate according to all the people I have spoken to who he has done their surgery. His office and circle of professional people chosen to do his pre op tests are very impressive in that they treat you as a person rather than just another number. This makes all the difference in the world to me. I was also impressed that when I later called the office to ask his bariatric nurse Chalice questions, that my phone call was returned withing 30 mins. I have so many times read on message boards and profiles how WLS patients have attempted to call their doctor's office and been left hanging with no call back and no answers. If a practice is too busy to answer your questions and look out for your well being, then I feel they may be in too much of a hurry to give good care and pay attention to details. It also made a tremedous impact on me to know that my nutritionist, Kathy, has overcome obesity. I would have a hard time accepting advice from someone who has never seen the other side...the side I am on now. I would rate Dr. Fendley and his staff as great on professionalism and bedside manner. I am patiently awaiting my surgery date.
