Joseph Cribbins III, MD, is a highly-regarded leading bariatric and general surgeon practicing at the Texas Center For Bariatrics & Advanced Surgery in Northern Texas. For more than 15 years, he has served as the Medical Director of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Committee Program at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano where he has also served as the vice-chairman of surgery and has played a distinctive role on several other medical committees. As a Connecticut native, Dr. Cribbins graduated with honors from Fairfield College Preparatory School and went on to earn a BS in Biology at Lafayette College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was on the Dean's List. He earned his medical degree at The University of Pittsburgh Medical School and was inducted in Alpha Omega Alpha, a prestigious medical society open only to the top academic students who also show promise for leadership in their field and commitment to service to their community. He completed his internship and residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cribbins has received numerous awards and honors including the Dr. Harold L. Method Surgical award for outstanding performance as a resident displaying surgical skill, empathy, and understanding towards patients and dedication to their care. He was also awarded the Orazio Dimaura scholarship for students of medicine and the Dr. J. Behan prize for Outstanding Student of Surgery. He has been honored to be recognized among D Magazine’s "Best Doctors" for Bariatric Surgery for the past 12 years and named a "Best Doctor" in Collin County by D Magazine since 2011. Board-certified, Dr. Cribbins is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). When he is not at the office, Dr. Cribbins enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, five children, and four dogs.     awesome dr....saw him origionally in 2004 for my gastric band. Later got that take out in 2011. Now seeing him again for the sleeve. Great guy. Listens well and wants whatever is best for you.
