He is very young looking, but I would recommend him 110 %.

His staff is great.

He is very thorough.

I THINK I'M IN LOVE WITH HIM!!!

Fantastic bedside manner.

I don't have anything negative to say about him.

My first impression of Dr. Cribbins was that he was way cute and looked very young to be a surgeon. Also, that he was extremely calm, relaxed, and confident. He was so informative and explained everything in detail so that I basically had no questions that needed answered. His sense of humor was also a relief to me, I joked with him about a few things and he openly and genuinely laughed with me.

My impression of him never changed, I always will remember him as kind, knowledgeable, personable, reassuring, gentle, pleasant...I could go on and on! The most important thing is that he never made me feel FAT!

His office staff was OK. I didn't interact much with them so I never formed any opinion of them.

Both his surgical competence and bedside manner were SUPERB!

Dr Cribbins & his staff are the best! Dr Cribbins is very genuine and concerned. He takes the time to make sure you are comfortable and have all of your questions answered. And I haven't even seen him for any bariatric concerns yet!

Met with Dr. Cribbens for the first time today. He seemed very nice. Very Competent. He answered all my questions. Seemed to really want to help me.
6/30 - After dealing with Dr. Cribbins and his office for the last year, my opinions have revised. My file sat on his desk for nearly 6 weeks after my heart doctor faxed him the information. Then he "needed to see me". He had decided that I'm not a good candidate for the gastric bypass. He'll do the lap band but otherwise, I'm just shit out of luck.
As for his staff. After he sat on it for 6 weeks, Melinda sat on it for another 6 weeks. She swears I didn't call her the very next day and say to go ahead. But I did. She even admitted that she had called the insurance about whether she had to resumbmit the whole thing or just an update. Then never followed up on it.
There is no aftercare program as far as I can tell. They insist that you buy their book. I guess that's it.
I'm sure he's a competent surgeon, but his office staff leaves a lot to be desired.

Dr Cribbins is a very educated and wonderful doctor. You will be amazed at how he treats you like a real person and takes all the time you need. My advise to anyone about to visit their office for WLS: Have all your paperwork ready. If you do, it will speed up the process for filing to insurance.

He is very direct and to the point. This man knows bariatric surgery, because that is all he does. Melinda, his bariatric coordinator is hard working and knowledgable.

My initial consult with Dr. Cribbins was on 2/13/03. His office was a busy one. But I never felt like they were rushing me. They all seem very nice. Melinda has been great. She called me yesterday with my surgery date...May 6th! So, the 6 months they tell you it could take may not be so. Mine has taken just over 2 months from initial consult to surgery. Overall I am very happy with my choice.
04/25/03 - Went for all of labs/EKG/Upper GI/Chest X-ray today. I got to the hospital a little earlier than told (around 7:10 a.m. was told 7:30) and I was out of there by 8:10 a.m. The Barium swallow is GROSS but tolerable. All went well, everything looks good...So off to the next step! SURGERY - 11 DAYS AWAY!!! WHOOOO!

05/21/03 - 15 days post-op and feeling GREAT! I am 100% back to normal, and have been that way since about day 9. I have lost 21 lbs. according to my scale that I a have always weighed on. I cannot say enough about Dr. Cribbins. He was such an amazing surgeon! He was very reassuring with some last minute jitters, and was very caring. I felt at ease with him. And he has given me a whole new outlook on life with my new BAND! THANK YOU!

1st impression: Wow! He looks young (and cute!) He was very thorough and answered all of the groups questions. We were called back individually and he discussed which surgery I was interested in. I told him my concerns about my mom's insurance policy having a written exclusion for obesity surgery and he assured me that Melinda would know how to ask all the right questions. He went over what the steps for private pay would be.

We didn't really cover anything for pre-op or post-op aftercare, but I am sure I will hear more about that when I get my surgery date!

Oh, by the way, I was approved! Melinda did ask all the right questions! I got a letter March 28 telling me to schedule my psych eval!

I personally believe that surgical competence is more important than bedside manner - but Dr. Cribbons (one on one) was very friendly and personable.

After a consultation with Dr. Cribbens today, I have decided to switch surgeons and go with him rather than Dr. Wade Barker. Among other procedures, he does the Lap Band and that is the surgery with which I feel most comfortable. Additionally, I was immediately ready to place my health in his hands! He has a confident and composed demeanor and seems genuinely concerned with the health and welfare of his prospective patients. His staff was pleasant and professional, as well. The advance paperwork must be filled out prior to the visit. Upon checkin for your consultation, you will receive an additional packet of information. The packet outlines everything Dr. Cribbens will be speaking about and provides information about the insurance approval process. make sure you bring your Driver's Lic. and Insurance card as well as payment (be it co-pay or self pay).

Dr. Cribbins seems to know his stuff. He has a very busy office and I understand the request not to call but the waiting game is hard.
