Alison Clarey Bariatric Surgeon D.O.

I went to my informational meeting on 6/13, which Dr Clarey conducted. She is quiet, and sort of plain. However she was very good at presenting the information about the surgery, as was the office assistant that was there. I have had surgery done by Dr Clarey's partner Dr Bruce, he is a bit more personable, but they work in tandem so I will be seeing both. Think it will work well, 1 with the bedside manor and one that is more technical.

May 25, 2002....My first impression of Dr. Clarey was soothing. I was a bundle of nerves walking into her office for the consult. I had not met her at the presentation her office held due to an emergency. When I did get to meet her she made me feel very comfortable and she unknowingly convinced me taht I had made the right decision. She took the time to answer every question that I had. Valerie was a big help to. I asked her about her experience. I also asked her about the hospitals that the surgeries were performed at. She was very honest with her answers and put my hospital concerns to an ease. I was recommended Dr. Clarey by my aunt that had the surgery done, and so far, I would recommend her also. I will keep you posted.

HER STAFF IS VERY HELPFUL. DR. CLAREY IS VERY HONEST AND VERY STERN TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTION SO YOU WILL HAVE A HEALTHY AND SAFE RECOVERY.

HER OFFICE MANAGER HAD THE SURGERY 2 YEARS AGO AND SHE IS A GREAT HELP. SHE DOES OUR SUPPORT GROUPS.

When I went to the monthly meeting that Dr.Clarey and Dr.Bruce have, Dr. Clarey was there that day, along with her office assistant, Valerie Davis. (She has had this surgery and is on this website). They had a slide-show presentation, answer questions, and even gave us information about insurance companies, as far as who required what information. I found it very helpful, although most of the information I already had, because my sister had gastric bypass surgery 2 years ago. At my first appointment, I met Dr. Bruce. He is a very nice and thorough doctor, and I felt that I had made the right choice in choosing their practice. Valerie, since she has had the surgery, was very helpful in answering my questions as well. One day we talked for about 15 minutes about her experience, and I compared it to my sister's experience. Everyone in the office was very nice and professional. I highly recommend Dr.Clarey and Dr.Bruce's office.

I met with Dr. David Bruce. He and Dr. Clarey usually do the surgery together. However, he'll be out of town and won't be back until the day after my scheduled date. So, I met Dr. Clarey on 4/4 and she will be doing my surgery alone. If I wasn't comfortable with that I could reschedule my date. I appreciated her giving me the opportunity make the choice.

Dr. Bruce was cordial and business like, you could tell he was a busy man. Dr. Clarey was very nice, answered all my questions and there was nothing rushed about my visit.

All the staff that I've delt with have been friendly and helpful.

They do have an aftercare program and monthly support meetings at 2 locations.

I MET DR. CLAREY ON JANUARY 24, 2002. SHE HONESTLY WAS VERY WARM AND KIND. SHE WAS VERY PATIENT IN ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS AS WELL AS CALMING MY FEARS. SHE HAS A PARTNER, DR. BRUCE AND THEY DO THE SURGERY TOGETHER! I LIKE THAT! THE OFFICE MANAGER, VALERIE, HAS HAD THE PROCEDURE AND LOOKS GREAT. THE OFFICE IS EXTREMELY BUSY, SO IT IS HARD SOMETIMES TO GET THEM ON THE PHONE, ESPECIALLY VALERIE! IVE ONLY SEEN DR. CLAREY ONCE, BUT SO FAR ID GIVE HER A 10.

I met Dr. Clarey at the info session. She was very nice and took her time to explain everything. She said that Dr.Bruce and she do all surgeries together. I liked that because two surgeons make for a quicker surgery! Shorter time being under anesthesia(sp?) and you know the saying...two heads are better than one!
Their office staff was very very nice! Valerie was a terrific help!
I would recomend anyone to them. I am glad I chose them!
They emphasize aftercare! I think she even said that the surgery was just the beginning...it's the after care that matters! They even offer a free support group! She has a lot of info and even gives you a sheet with a list of food you can eat in each food group at what week post op! Also they have a VERY informative website( http://www.weightlossalternatives.com ) that tells you everything as well. They were very careful to explain all the risks. Overall I would rate them a 10! Very good experience so far! I honestly do not have anything negative to say. I went to the meeting and to my first appointment and so far, so good!



The more I call their office and deal with their staff the more glad I am that I chose them. Everyone is nice, caring and friendly.
I will tell more about Dr.'s Bruce and Clarey after the surgery...

Well, I have mostly dealt with Dr. Bruce and he has been great! I honestly don't have one negative thing to say. He has been a great doctor with a good bedside maner.

I think the world of Dr Clarey. She is a wonderful person. Dr Clarey made sure she was avlible to me all the time .Her office staff are friendly pepole always nice even when you call for a silly question. I had a lot of complications after my sergery she made sure to show me a little extra tlc. My complications had nothing to do with Dr Clarey. Dr Clarey and staff have a wonderful class that she has you take before surgery that explaines everything. She also has suport groups in two different locations twice a mth. Also what makes it really nice is that her office man. has had a gastric bypass so she truly understands. Overall I would have to say that DrClarey has to be the best Dr. I have ever had to deal with and I would recamend her to anyone.

I am VERY happy with my choice in surgeons, Dr CLarey and her staff were wonderful. Her staff members too had gastric bypass and were very informative. I am a RN, other physicians ask me who did my surgery, when I tell them, they all have wonderful things to say about her. She is very respected in the medical community. She fully explained all risks and complications, and believe me I had plenty of questions, she was very patient in answering all of them. As far as after care goes, I moved out of the state a few months after, so I can't honestly answer that. I have nothing negative to say about my experience with Dr. Clarey, I would recommend her HIGHLY.
