he's very nice and understanding of how difficult it is for some people to lose wt. he knows that most times it's hereitary and can't be helped-untill now.no not at all and his staff is wonderful very helpful even on insurance procedures. i loved everyhting about him. that he is very understanding and will call you back very fast if you have any questions even on weekends.he emphasizes aftercare very much-always drink plenty of water because you don't want to dehydrate.his after care program consists of counciling services.he talks to you several times prior to surgery to make sure you understand all risks during surgery and after surgery. i think he's an 8 because i think he should include a dietiain. he is great overall.

I was immediately comfortable about my decision to see Dr. McDaniel. He is about an hour and a half away from my home, but that's no problem at all. He was kind, compassionate, and down-to-earth in all he had to say. He gave the best explanation I've ever heard as to why I could diet til Kingdom Come and not have any significant success. Of course, he emphasizes this as a tool and that it is still important to be disciplined in my future choices with exercise and food selection.

8/7/02 Dr. McDaneil is great! HE is the sweetest. He was very nice in answering my questions that i had a the time. (forgot to ask a couple of more, but will write them down next time.) His office staff was really nice, one of the girls i nhis offcie had this surgery and had no problems with the same insurance. He is very adimant about aftercare and following the aftercare program. He is very caring and described what happens with people with morbid obesity and the reason for yo-yo dieting. I'll update more later!

He is very personable, and his staff was helpful and patient.
He stesses the after care and diet . He also made you go through psyc. eval. and strongly suggests support groups. The risks of surgery were discussed and he answered all my questions.

I have not met with the surgeon yet, but his office staff has been a big help. I have recieved there information packet and filled out the questionaire. Now I am just going to have to wait and see how quick I can get an appt.
6/14/02 I have met with Dr. McDaniel's twice now. He is really a great person. He seems to really care about his patients and doesn't rush you. He has answered all my questions, and is very confident in his ability. I feel very fortunate to be using him.

Dr. McDaniel was friendly and very helpful at my appt. He set me up to go to a psychologist as well as a support group for the people in our area who have had the gastric bypass. He seemed knowledgeable and informative. His office sent a letter to my insurance right away and we are waiting for an answer.

DR.MCDANIELS IS A VERRY CARRING AND CONSERN PERSON.HE EXPLAINED THE SURGERY IN GREAT DETAIL.MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF HIM WAS THAT HE REALLY KNEW HOW BADLEY I NEEDED HELP.HE THEN TOLD ME TO GO HOME AND GET ALL THE INFORMATION I CAN FINE AND LET HIM KNOW WHAT I WANTED TO DO. IT TOOK ME 5 MONTHS TO MAKE UP MY MINE TO DO IT.HIS OFFICE STAFF ARE WONDERFUL AND VERRY CARRING.I REALLY CAN'T SAY THERE IS ANYTHING I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT HIM.HE IS VERRY STRICK WHEN IT COMES TO THE DIETS. WHEN HE SAYS 2 WEEKS LIQUID IT IS 2 WEEKS AND NO SOONER.HE WANTS YOU TO WALK AFTER SURGERY AND TO CONTINUE WHEN YOU GO HOME.AS FAR AS I KNOW HE WANTS YOU TO CALL HIS OFFICE OF ANY PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS. I CONTINUE TO SEE HIME EVER 2 WEEKS HE THEN WILL TELL ME WHAT TO DO NEXT.HEIS VERRY STRAIGHT ABOUT THE RISK I WOULD BE TAKING.AS FAR AS I'M CONSERN HE IS A 10 FOR I'M STILL HERE AND THERE WAS A LOT TO RISK WITH MY HEALTH.HE WAS GREAT as a surgon ALSO DISCUSSING THE RESULTS.1-2-02 DR.MACDANIELDS GAVE ME MY B-12 SHOT AND ALSO THE IRON AND CALICUM VITIAMS. I'M AT 301 NOW WHICH IS 55 POUNDS LOST. HE SAID I was doing great.

My surgeon was B. Dean McDaniel in Victoria, Texas. He was very matter of fact and to the point. He also was very sure of his work and up to date on all of the new techniques. His office staff was very friendly and helpful. They made me feel very comfortable right off. I would highly reccomend him and his staff. He does not emphasize aftercare too much. He sends you to a Psychiatrist and a nutritionist. Also, he makes sure that you go to some sort of support group before and after surgery. I think his surgical competence is a little better than his bedside manner. He is sort of matter of fact and too the point.
