Haven't met Dr. or staff yet- but I hear excellent things!

Have met with the renound Dr. Meyerowitz, and I ADORE him! He is the most intelligent, handsome, dignified and mannerly man that I have known since my Father! I have every confidence in his skills and abilities as a surgeon and as a gentleman!

My first impression of Dr Meyerowitz is that he was extremely gruff. The 2nd visit with him was much less tense for me.
He does a very complete review of the surgical procedure and possible risks/complications. He has you inital everything that he gives you for his records.
His staff has been very helpful and patient with me, especially Teri.

I'm now post-op, Dr. Meyerowitz was wonderful to me during my hospital stay. He is very careful about the care you receive. Very strict regarding aftercare.

Its been almost a year since my surgery. I recently had a hernia repair done by Dr. Baggs ( Dr. Meyerowitz has retired ) He is a great surgeon and a very nice man.

My first impression of Dr. Meyerowitz was that I thought he was harsh because he was critical. My impression has changed over time and now I love him. I realized that he was on my side. He saved my life! I keep him in my prayers everyday. His staff was very nice. If I were to advise others about my doctor I would say that he's the best. However he is retiring soon. He is an advocate for aftercare. He has a structured aftercare program with counceling and post-op follow up. He point blank told me the risk which was that because I was so overweight he might have to do it in two surgeries instead of one. The other risk was that I might have to be intibated with a breathing tube during the surgery but it turned out I didn't need it. I would rate him overall as the absolute best! Both surgical competence and bedside manner are great.

Very up front and Blunt. But someone who has lots of experience and doesn't beat around the bush about your risks of the surgery. My impression immediately after surgery was that he is a truly caring MD and is the best. His office staff is great and very helpful. He is very blunt like I said about both the risks of the surgery verses the risks of remaining overweight. However, he is very up front and blunt regarding the fact that this is not a quick fix. He wants you to exercise, eat right and drink lots of water with NO SNACKING.
Overall I would say Dr. M is one of the Best.

I haven't even met Dr. Meyerowitz! I met with Dr. Gorrin - but he has since taken a leave of absence and now, I have been blessed with Dr. Meyerowitz! The Dr. that taught the Kaiser doctors the surgery. I have faith in all of them. I've heard wonderful things about Drs Lehga, Nguyen and Gorrin, but I am happy to have Dr. M! Such experience! I will meet him for the first time at my pre-op appointment on February 27th.

The staff that heads up the Bariatric Dept for Kaiser South San Francisco - well, they are just incredible. Nadia, Gitty and Marina are all very dear and sweet and having nothing but our best interest at heart.

2/28 Well I met Dr. Meyerowitz yesterday for my pre-op appointments. He tries to be kind of gruff and in charge but I think he's a softie inside because I teased him a little and he smiled and then was even a little playful. I have complete faith in his abilities. He's done over 1600 of these surgeries. Unfortunately, my surgery was postponed this morning (as I was waiting to be wheeled into the O.R.) due to my asthma acting up, so I may not even have him as my surgeon when the time comes!

I had two appointments with Dr. Meyerowitz before I decided to have the surgery done by him. After the first visit, I left very disappointed. I thought he was grouchy and uncaring. However, the second visit turned me around. After reading all the positive things about him on this site, and doing research which showed he was absolutely the best person available to do this surgery, I was prepared for the meeting and open to what he had to say. The second meeting was great and I thought he was wonderful! I have complete faith in his abilities and know that I am in the very best of hands.

If you like an experience physician, who teaches the other physicians how to do it....Dr. Meyerwitz is the man!! On first impression he is a bit gruff...but don't be fooled! Underneath, he is very caring and professional and is only looking out for YOUR welfare as a patient. He wants you to be successful at all costs. Dr. M will not perform the operation if you're not completely "there".
His office staff is impecable, especially Terry. She is very understanding and helpful.
How would I rate them overall??? I'd give em a 10. They have
restored my faith in the HMO system!

I know a lot of people think he is gruff at first.
I thought he was wonderful. He was very optimistic about
the whole process. You must go in knowing yourself (habits, past medical history, ect.)
He gave me a long list of pasted patients to contact, and they all
say the same thing, "he changed their life's
he is wonderful".I have just been aproved and have not strated
the opertive jouney yet, but I will up-date my conments
if I feelings change.

i had heared dr meyerowitz speak at a seminar the week befor i had my initial consult with him. this is a brilliant man who knows all about weight loss surgery. just as everyone said he is adamant about following his after care program. this is a tool that if use properly will yeild great results and if use incorrectly will yield poor results. i like him because he's old and knowledgeable.and also i love that accent.be sure you have a history of weight loss attemps and any medical problems you have related to weight. it seemed like i had to do alot of phone calling between my insurance company and the doctors office because my paprer work was sent to the wrong office and so forth but terri is the bomb!i guess i'l update after my surgeyon 10-13-00 to let you know about his bedside maner
