Benjamin Hung Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
MY first impression of Dr. Hung ... he is really nice and stright forward, he said I was a PERFECT candidate for WLS. Lisa sent everything thing in but of course it was denied!!!!! Lisa said no one she knows has been approved with my insurance company
I HAVE BEEN APPROVED after 7 denials!!! & an attorney and alot of $$$ for postage lol
I will have Dr. Hung do the surgery cuz I know he is a really GREAT surgeon, OK UPDATE<<
I think Dr. Hung is a good surgeon but not a great person, I had my gall bladder taken out less than a year after my RNY and he TOLD my family "that gallbladder was bad, she must have been having problems with it for a long time" DAHHHH I asked him to check my gall bladder when he did the RNY and he said he always did,, NOT<< My gall bladder attacks were before and AFTER my RNY he just wanted the extra $$ for a new surgery,, I will NOT GO BACK...
I really liked him from the first. He is very kind and patient will answer all of your questions, dicuss all types of weight loss surgery and options. Dr. Hung really emphasizes about post-op care. he has discussed all the risks of surgery. On ascale of 1-10 I would give him a 9.5
He as great bedside manner, because my husband has had surgery done by Dr. Hung. I am sure of his surgical competence
Dr. Hung is a very positive doctor, does not make you fell bad just because you are over-weight. He is very compassionate to his patients. The office staff is great! He does encourage after care for every patient. Dr. Hung has told me all of the risks of having the LapBand surgery. I would rate him as a 10 on a scale of 1-10. I think surgical competence and bedside manner should go hand in hand and Dr. Hung has both!
After having my surgery done by Dr. Sudan at Creighton U (he is now at Duke U). I went back to see Dr. Hung. I was nervous at first because he was the first surgeon I saw in Nebraska and ended up getting my surgery done elsewhere, but......everything went fine, Dr. Hung and his staff were very nice and treated me like I never left. I never questioned the abilities of Dr. Hung and his staff and during my return visit I was not dissapointed.
Dr. Hung is young looking, but seems very knowledgeable and capable. My consultation with him was brief, but he answered all my questions and helped to put me at ease. He explained both the lap-band and the gastric bypass procedures to me. I have had a couple of issues with the office staff, but overall they have been pleasant to work with. The nurse, Lisa, did not give me the packet of information that she gives to all patients after the first visit, but she sent it to me right away after the error was discovered. Also, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hung's dietitian, and when I arrived, the appointment was nowhere to be found on their computer. They did schedule me for later the same day. I would like this process to go smoothly, but I am learning to accept a few bumps in the road. I am not really too concerned about bedside manner in my surgeon, as long as he is surgically competent.
Dr Hung is just fabulous !
He took the time to explain the operation to me (I'm going for Lap Band) He showed me the actual band that will be placed inside me and we discussed at length what to expect and not expect with this surgery.
His office staff is Very Very Helpful. They gave me a list of people I need to see before they will approve me.
Aftercare is very important, as is before care. If you're going to plan to use Dr. Hung plan to see a pulmanologist, a psychologist, and a nutritionist before you will be approved. His office was very specific about being there for aftercare and fills as necessary.
I was told all the risks involved with the surgery.
I rate Dr. Hung highly and am looking forward to him being my surgeon on this journey.
Both....But surgical cometence is the most important, you can be a rude old sob as long as you know what you're doing.
My only negative thing is that I was rescheduled twice before I got to see Dr. Hung. My original appointment was in early March, and due to his office rescheduling me my initial appointment was moved to the end of April.
