David Lourie Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

I think that Dr. David Lourie (Pasadena, CA) is FANTASTIC. I liked him from the first time I spoke to him, and 2 friends of mine also had their surgeries with him and felt the same way!!
He is very kind, thorough and has a wonderfull calmness when he speaks to you.
I am very pleased I had my surgery with him. Also Kim at his office has always been very friendly and helpful.

Dr. Lourie's personality is very calming and gentle. You can tell he's very intelligent and has a good sense of humor. His smile alone will build your confidence that this is the right doctor for you. His staff is very friendly and funny and makes you feel like you've known them for years. There hasn't been anything I didn't like about my whole relationship with Dr. Lourie or his staff. I've only had surgery 11 days ago but during the hospital stay and at my first checkup, he made me feel really good about myself for accomplishing the first week after surgery. After seeing him, I feel confident that I know what I'm doing and how to handle my phases of diet. Addressing the risks before surgery was handled in a very professional and serious tone but at the same time, my trust in him with my life never waivered. I would rate Dr. Lourie on the highest end of the scale. His surgical competence, bedside manner are equally reasurring and encouraging.

He is one of the most compasionate doctors I have ever dealt with. My wife is in the medical field and I found him through referal. He has a great reputation and a glowing track record. If you live in southern california, he is the doctor that you want. He is also one of the most experienced at the LAP RNY procedure in the state. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate him a 100.

My Surgery was done by David J. Lourie of Comprehensive Surgical Specialists, Pasadena, California. Laparascopic Roux-en-Y Surgery was performed at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. Surgery took place at 9:30 am on a Monday morning and was completed by 11:15am. Stayed in hospital til the next night - Tuesday evening.
Dr. Lourie is the consumate surgeon. His staff is harried but nice. They make you go through pre-op tests and by the time you have your date - you know the state of your general health. I found Dr. Lourie to be readily available to see, and his Chief Nurse Debbie Gold and Kim and the rest of the office staff are always willing to take questions.
Dr. Lourie does other types of Laser Surgery as well, so he is very "up to date" on all types of abdominal and general surgical procedures (including complications). I felt very confident going in - but after the surgery - his availability increased! He is unafraid of any question.
He's an A+ of a doctor. There is a staff of seven additional doctors in this group - with Dr. Bengt F. Pehrsson being the most experienced (he's been doing Gastric By-Pass surger for over 10 years - when it was only done "open" ie large cut in stomach. Dr Pehrssson and the rest of the staff are dedicated to helping patients get the Laser procedure. (4-6 tiny incision scars on abdomen).
All in all, a very professional group - Huntington Memorial has a whole dedicated surgical room for WLS - and to Laser Surger as well.
