I met with Dr. Goodman and although he was extremely busy that day, he took the time to talk to me at length. I waited a long time in the examining room and he stopped by to apologize for the wait on his way to see another patient that had arrived before me. He was very pleasent and helpful. I found him to be very realistic and knowledgable. He answered all of my questions with ease and listened to all of my concerns despite being overwhelmed. I would rate him a 10 out of 10! Linda is the BEST!



My surgery date is August 12! I'm scared, excited and anxious all wrapped up in one.

I have to add that on Friday, July 26 a friend called me with some very bad news. Her husband has a co-worker whose wife was having the surgery last week and died during the operation. She was 29 and left several small children. I was so freaked out by this and that added to my anxiety. I emailed Dr. Goodman as soon as I got off the phone and I was so suprised when I checked my email a few hours later that he had already responded to my panicked email. He told me to page him today (sunday) so we could talk about it. I did as he asked and within 5 minutes...literally...he called me back and I told him what I knew. He addressed my concerns and was extremely pleasent. I did not feel rushed or uncomfortable speaking to him. I cannot begin to tell you how good this made me feel. Dr. Goodman gets two tummies up! (no thumbs here)-smile

Dr. Goodman is the best he was very informative and patient.he is very pleasant and made me feel comfortable right off the back.i would recommend anyone to him any time anyday.his staff was very nice also.

I heard great things about Dr. Goodman. I met him twice and he was very nice. I get surgery on the 5th of June and i have put my life in his hands. He has a wonderful track record and i feel safe with him as my surgeon. His secretarr Ernie was very sweet and answered all questions and was great with getting my date.

I met Dr. Goodman and was very impressed with him after that first visit. I had already interviewed with another doctor and did not like the way he handled my first visit. So when Dr. Goodman talked with me for as long as I needed and then he examined me and asked questions. I felt he was really interested in me. He explained the operation and I saw a video on it also. He told me of the risk and the % of people these things happen too. He was kind and gentle and made me feel he really cared. His bedside manner was the greatest and surgical competence I give him a l0+. I took my daughter from three other hospital admits after her surgery and brought her to him and he diagnosed her in two hours. No body else could find out what was wrong. I highly recommend him as a surgeon and also as a kind and nice person.

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Goodman perform a gastric bypass in December 1999. As a result I lost just under 150lbs and found a new, more vibrant and confident me.
However, I was recently diagnosed with Gall Bladder disease and returned to Dr. Goodman to have it removed. Dr. Goodman is the epitome of what a doctor should be. He is very caring and educated about what he does. He has always returned my phone calls and emails in record time. He is open to answer my questions and takes the time to listen even though he is extremely busy. He has touched my life twice now and I am very greatful to him for it. He talks to me, like a friend, not above my head or with an attitude. I recommend anyone that is thinking about this surgery, that is local to New York City (or is willing to travel) to try to see Dr. Elliott Goodman. I know he is very busy and often booked, and his waiting room wait averages 1.5 hours, but he is worth it. I welcome any inquires about him and would be delighted to sing his praises. This is not an easy surgery and life, though better after it, is not always rosy but, he helps you to make it through to enjoy your new life. Thank you and G-d bless you Dr. G!!

My first impression of Dr. Goodman was that he seemed to be a person who cares, didn't look down at me because of my weight like most other doctors do, that was important to me. Over the period of this year in waiting I've felt frustrated because he seemed to avoid me at all cost, I truly wish that he would have told me about his concerns instead of having me figuring it out by myself and then finaly getting it out of his secetary. His staff seems to be over worked but friendly and some what helpful. Dr. Goodman did stress all of the risks and stessed aftercare, also the need of the vitamins and iron. OVERALL MY DR. RATES A 7.5 I know I'm in the best of hands if it wasn't for all of the waiting without any explaination he would have gotten a 9.9 I MUST STATE I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY CHOICE REGUARDLESS. CAN NOT WAIT TO FEEL HEALTHY OR NORMAL,HAVE BEEN TRAPPED BY ALL THIS WEIGHT FOR SO LONG CAN'T WAIT TO BE ON THE OTHER SIDE.

I FOUND DR.GOODMAN TO BE A KIND PERSON SOMETIMES WHEN WE MET DOCTORS THEY ARE SO COLD AND ANTI-SOCIAL BUT GOODMANS DIFFERENT HE SEEMS SO CONCERN WHEN HE TALKS TO YOU.HIS STAFF SO FAR HAS BEEN PRETTY GOOD. I CAN HONESTLY SAY I HAVE NO DISLIKES HOWEVER MY SURGERY IS NOT UNTIL FEB5 THEN I WILL MAKE MY FINALLY JUDGEMENT..

Hi guys, well today was first my appoitment with Dr.Goodman. I have to say that the whole experience was better than I expected. I had scheduled my appt. back on nov. '01, it was really hard to get an appt. I understood that he is a very busy doctor. So, to any of you who want Dr.Goodman as your doctor, keep trying!! It will happen if you are persistent.
I arrived 20 minutes before my appt. because i had to register at the Montefiore hospital (it was my first time there).
The receptionist was very nice. All the surgeons are in the same place. So expect to see a lot of people there. Everyone is really nice, I was actually surprised.
A really nice nurse named Michelle took me to see a video that explains the procedure and then i was waiting to see Dr. Goodman almost 1 1/2 hours. It was a bit much, but you know what, it is all worth it.
I finally got to speak to Dr.G, he is everything I expected and more. He was very calm & clear about explaning every single detail about the procedure. He was not in a hurry or anything, he really took his time with me. That's when i understood why i had to wait that long, he was talking to other people, like he was talking to me, with respect and sensitivity.
Dr. G is a really nice person. I felt a 100% comfortable with him. He was really clear and insisted i understood every single detail about the complications that can occur after surgery, i have to admit, that made me feel very secure & more convinced that i had made the right choice in picking him to be my surgeon.
He was really good in explaning my before and after care. He was clear about everything. He explained every detail, from how long i was going to be in the hospital to what pain killers i should avoid post-op.
I would rate Dr.G a 10 so far & i know he is not going to let me down.

Dr.Goodman is really nice and helpful. He answered all of my questions.He told me about the chance and percentage of complications. He didnt look down on me for being over weight like most doctors.Him and his staff made me very comfortable.
