My first impression of Dr. Brody was great. I felt that he was very intelligent and he had all of the answers to my questions. He advised me that I was a great candidate for the procedure and that following insurance approval he would see me in the operating room. The surgery went very well and he came to see me in my room the following morning. A couple of days following the surgery, I was concerned about one of the incision sites so I called his office. Dr. Brody personally returned my call and told me how to handle it. His entire staff is wonderful and the hospital was better than ever. I never have to wait in the waiting room very long when I go for a fill. Dr. Brody is very personable and makes you feel very comfortable. I have referred several people to his office because I am just overjoyed by my experience. I don't think that I could have made a better choice for a surgeon.

My first meeting with Dr. Brody, I knew I was not going to use any other doctor. His knowledge of the Lap-Band and demeanor were incredible. He knows everything there is to know about this surgery and everything he told me would happen has. He is quite strict on his pre-op requirements and tells you that if you do not follow the instructions, when he gones in to do the surgery and you have not followed the instructions you will wake up without the lapband. Other than being down to earth, he take lots of pride on work and knowledge. There was nothing that I did not like about him and I have referred several friends to him. rnrnOverall, I give him a million thumbs up. His surgical competence and bedside manner say everything about him and the reason why he is successful

I love Dr. Brody he is so genuine and really cares about his patients. He even called me the day after surgery and the week after to check up on me and ask how I was doing. His nurses are amazing and always so helpful. I would recommend him 100% to anyone who is considering his services. The only one small thing is his office staff isn't always so pleasant on the phone, but then again, they are the ones poing and prodding me so it's a small thing to overlook for such good care from the doctor and nurses.

I had LapBand on 2/15/06 performed by Dr. Brody at GWU Medical Center. He required I drop 30-40lbs before doing the surgery which I did do over 3 months. Overall, my experience was a good one; my first visit covered alll the risks, procedures, etc. Denise, one of the PAs was wonderful as well -- she handles the Optifast which is required for the 2-3 weeks pre-op to de-fat the liver. As for surgery, mine was for 1:30pm, I finally was moved into the operating room about 2 pm for 'awake' intubation (don't remember it tho) and then into recovery after apparently uneventful procedure waking up about 5pm. I did spend amost 7-8 hours in the PACU/Recovery because they didn't of a bed for me. \"Our census is up\" is what I was repeatly told but it didn't matter as I was getting great care there. Because of my sleep apnea, I had to be in ICU overnight but was release by 6pm the following day. The nursing staff was terrific -- the only 'bummer' was a I had a roommate for the last 8 hours that did nothing but moan and call out for her mother and I spent about an hour waiting in a 'parking lot' of patients for a GI to be done. The Intern that discharged me gave me a handout for my diet but was not familar with the protocal -- I think he may have been an ENT based on his badge doing a surgical fellowship. Didn't really matter much as I already, from research, knew what to expect. My pain never got beyond a 1 on the 1-10 scale and my incisions look like cat scratches. Advice about appointments: call early (like before your surgery). I was suppose to have a 2 week follow-up which turned into a 3 week follow-up because I got out on a Thurs @ 6pm, was in no condition to call on Friday, Monday was a holiday and I called on Tues and it was 3 weeks before I could get in.

I was very pleased when I met Dr. Brody. rnI had heard about him via this web site and since he was the closest doctor that did the lap-band surgery I went ahead and called for an appointment. My impression has just gotten better and better. He is a very caring doctor and set me right at ease. Discussing my obesity has always been a touchy subject. He was quite sure this Lap-band would do the trick for me and I agree. He has all his patients adhere to a pre-op diet and if you do not follow the diet you will have the surgery but wake-up with NO lap-band. It needs to be followed so the liver shrinks and it is easier to apply the band to the stomach. I already exercise 3 times a week at Curves and he wants me to exercise 5 times a week so I will. rn

The first thing that I would like to say about Dr Brody is that he is great. When I first met him and told him what I would like to do he didn't try to talk me out of it like this other surgeon that I went to see. He gave me a play by play about how the whole surgery would go. All of the questions that I asked he answered them with much confidence which tell me that he knows what he is doing. I am not sure about his staff because I really haven't meet them only his assistant. She seems nice but is about business. If you don't have the paperwork you can forget about getting an appointment or a date. Over all I think that Dr Brody is great and I am looking forward to him doing my surgery.

Dr. Brody and his staff are great. He is no nonsense which is ok, I would rather have a great surgeon than one who coddles me. and he is great....The whole staff at the Medical Facility of GW Univesity are excellent. Dr. Brody's secretary is also great, really comes through and gets things taken care of.

Dr. Fred Brody, and his Office Assistant Sherry were a very good team. Sherry took care of all of my paper work I didn't have to do anything. Dr. Brody was very thorough when talking with me about the surgery, I felt very comfortable.

He was nice. To the point and knows what he is talking about.
He answered all of my questions and was very informative as well as the nurse who helped me.
My god-sister was working there at the time and she told Dr Brody about me prior to my visit.
The rest of the staff was okay.
He isnt the joke/laugh type but he is very straightforward. I like this......

He has told me all the pros/cons and answered all of my questions.

10+++
He was great. I would rather have someone who is serious and into their job than somoene who is joking ect. He was curteous and not rude. I like this.....
