My surgeon George Ferzli not only performed my gastric bypass arthroscopically, saving me a great deal of suffering and recuperation time, he holds patents to some of the instruments used in the procedure.rnrnHis intelligent and serious approach to such life-altering surgery and his team of professionals including nutritionalists, a psychiatrist, a nurse practitioner, various medical partners and staff made my decision to have the procedure an informed and confident one.rnrnOne hears many horror stories about going through bypass surgery but rest assured, none generated from this fine surgeon or his staff.rnrnWhen you discover that you are in need of a gastric bypass surgery, you must have the confidence to proceed. Enlisting Dr. Ferzli will provide you with that confidence. Half the battle is trust. Trust Dr. Ferzli. The surgery, under his direction will save your life.rnrnWilliam J. Castellorn06/02/09

My surgeon was Dr. Vulpe from Dr. Ferzli's office.rnrnMy first impression of him was quite positive. He was both supportive and direct and provided me with optimism about the procedure and related outcomes.rnrnMy impression did not change over time.rnrnThe office saff of Ferzli/Vulpe is very professional and accommodating.rnrnI would like future patients to know that Dr. Vulpe is an excellent surgeon who cares about his patients.rnrnDr. Vulpe will continue to see me monthly for the next several months (I am almost 7 weeks post-op). He stresses the importance of seeing the nutritionist regularly.rnrnPrior to my surgery, Dr. Vulpe met with me to discuss the possible risks of surgery and side effects following surgery. My surgery was flawless. To date, I have not had nausea or any discomfort nor have I experienced the dumping syndrome.rnrnIn terms of a rating, I would give Dr. Vulpe a 10.rnrnI believe a good surgeon needs to have both competence and a bedside manner.

My primary care doctor suggested I have a gastrric by pass surgery, I have been a diabetic for almost 20 years and not much in control. He mentioned Dr Fersley, I soon met Kevin the coordinator at his clinic , a very caring, understanding, helpfull, informative nurse who explained the procedure. I also met the Dietician Lisa . and Dr.Mahoney the psychologist, at one of the group meeting prior to surgery. During the process while getting the six months prep work, I mentioned my doctors name\" Fersley \" and everyone was trilled that i had the very bets surgen. Then the moment of truth I had my first meeting with Dr.Fersley, I though that day he was a bit cold , I was surprised. The meeting with Lisa Lobel the nutritionis went great she also was very helpfull, caring and above all very informative. My metting with Dr.David Mahoney the psychologist was very plesant. He was a true proffesional. The moment of truth came on January 6, 2002 . I once again met Dr Fersley and we went over the surgery at that point I realized what everyone talked about \" WHAT A GREAT DOCTOR\" I also met his assistant doctors involved in the surgery. Dr Timoni and Dr, Val both were extremely nice and very , very, caring. When I woke up from the surgey the staff at Lutheran Hospital , I mean the entire staff of were above and beyond great. The nurses were very caring and were on top of the patients all the time. At the hospital I only had one nurse who was terrible her name was Linda, she completely ignored me during her shift. The rest treated me like I was a member of their family. Dr. Val and Dr Timoni were just great. Dr. Fersley did his rounds and the more I got to know him the more I realized I had the BEST doctor in the world. Dr Fersley is a fantastic surgen. I am so happy and greatfull that I came across Dr Fersley and his wonderfull staff. I am going to recomend everyone to him. He is trully an exceptional , proffesional , talented , caring, skillfull, informative surgen with the best hands, my cut sites look like they were never touched not one black and blue, really amazing. I am very thankfull to Dr Fersley and his wonderfull staff. Thank you Dr. Fersley

I was thoroughly impressed by the professionalism and accomplishments of Dr. Ferzli. I understand that he holds patents on some laproscopic instruments. He was very serious about weight loss surgery, but was also very friendly towards his patient. His staff including Dr. Mahoney, the psychologist, Kevin, the bariatric coordinator, Lisa, my nutritionist and the rest of his office staff are extremely competent, friendly and helpful. Any questions or problems are answered quickly and intelligently. The monthly pre-op and post-op meetings at his office provide exceptional information, help and support for new patients as well as patients who already have had surgery. From what I have seen and heard, his surgical competence is second to none in our area. I also understand he travels the world to teach seminars and instruct other surgeons in weight loss surgery. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Ferzli to anyone interested in bariatric surgery.

Dr. Ferzli sat with me during my consultation for over an hour, he explained all the weight loss procedures he did. He also explained to me that weight loss surgery wasn’t for everyone and that he may never see me after I left his office that day. I assured him he was wrong that I would be back and my mind was made up to take control of my Health. I had surgery on Feb 5, 2008 and lost a total of 85 lbs. Dr. Ferzli has a wonderful bedside manner and cares about his patients. I was so nervous once I was in the operating room, I started to cry, I looked over and there was Dr. Ferzli touching my hand and face telling me he was going to take care of me and everything would be okay. He was right I did great, and I have to thank him for everything he has done. It means a lot when you have a doctor who you are comfortable with. Dr. Ferzli has a gift, I tell him all the time he has hands of gold. Everytime I run into him he stops and talks to me and ask if there is anything I need. I couldn't have asked for a better Surgeon.

My surgeon was Armando Castro, who has left the practice. These comments are regarding Dr. Ferzli et al's bariatric surgery program.rnrnI had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy in February, 2008, and looking back, and given what I've heard from other patients, where this program is especially strong is in peripheral support. Finding a well-trained surgeon is very important, but relatively easy. Finding a program which ensures you're in the best possible shape for your procedure, that you've been well-informed about your alternatives, and have had proper pre-op testing, counseling in nutrition, and the opportunity to attend support groups, are the areas where Dr. Ferzli's program is outstanding. rnrnI had two private consultations with my surgeon before signing my consent, and he helped me choose the sleeve gastrectomy procedure, based on my diet history and how I described my eating and appetite problems. I wasn't familiar with the VSG before I met Dr. Castro, but I think it really was the best option for me, and I'm very glad I came to this practice. (Six years ago, I considered bariatric surgery, but I disliked aspects of both the lap band and gastric bypass. Because I was completely healthy at the time, I decided against surgery.) I would urge patients to consider it even though it is not currently covered by insurance--this is a life-altering decision, after all. rnrnThe pre-op testing was rigorous, and I felt reassured about my basic good health. (I had mild hypertension, which cleared up within two months of surgery.) Since February, I've gone to support groups (which are offered three times a month, on Staten Island and Brooklyn) an average of once a month. I've also been to at least two follow-up appointments with Lisa, my nutritionist, and my surgeon. I like having these resources available to me because I'm making permanent changes in my diet and want to make sure I'm getting proper nutrition in addition to losing weight. (Meetings with Lisa are preceded by a blood work-up.) I followed the post-op instructions to the letter, and have had no complications or delays in my recovery. rnrnI always feel like Dr. Ferzli's staff are available to me and are committed to my success.

The first time I met Dr. Ferzli, I saw the kindness in his eyes. Dr. Ferzli has an amazing team of doctors and support staff is very informative. The nutriotionist, Lora was very detailed in how I would have to change my eating habits and enjoy it at the same time. I called Kevin, the Coordinator, a lot of time and always got an easy to understandrnanswer. If anyone is looking for a major change in their life you can trust Dr. Ferzli. He personally will explain every step before and after the surgery. After my surgery, Dr. Ferzli's team of doctors was always by my bed, ckecking and making sure I was comfortable. I trusted Dr. Ferzli with my life and I love it now. rnThank you Dr. Ferzli and the team.rnR.

When I first met with Dr. Ferzli, he looked very caring. He told me exactly what to expect, meaning that the procedure was not a quick fix and that I had to do my part. He was very frank about the whole thing. My initial impression has not changed. I cannot recall an instance where I was disappointed because he is very careful about my wellbeing by following post-op procedures and taking precautions. Future patients should know that Dr. Ferzli is one of the top and that he has a great team of health professionals that work with him. I did feel without a doubt that I was in good hands. He makes sure that I follow the procedure and instructions of post-op maintenance. He directs me to take test, getting prescriptions needed and advise me to see my regular physician for follow up. He definately has a structured aftercare program. The whole team advised me on what to do, because he said that the post-op period is most critical. He talked about the risk of the procedure during our initial procedure and on the day of surgery. On a scale of 1-10, I rate him a 10. I believe that surgical competence along with bedside manner are both important and vital in this profession. I feel that Dr. Ferzli possesses both qualities.

My impresssion of Dr. Ferzli was one of confidence. I read about hiom before I met with him and everything I read was true. He was very professional. The office staff was very helpful and they guided me through the steps I needed to take to have surgery. Dr Ferzli has a specific aftercare program that I follow. I have routine visits with the doctor and the nutritionists. Dr. Ferzli addressed all the risks and benifis of the surgery with me. I would rate DR. Ferzli on a scale form 1-10 a 10. I have recommeded other patients to him and would encourage anyone who interested in having surgery tosee Dr. Ferzli.
