I chose my doctor even though he was 8 hours away from my home based on the fact that he had alot of experience doing the procedure that after much research I felt would be the best for me,THE LAPROSCOPIC ROUX-EN-Y gastric bypass. My husband and I met with him in his Atlanta office the day before surgery and he went over the operation, drew diagrams, answered any questions and seemed very competent,knowledgable,and confident. We really liked him very much. It seems to me that he has tried to make this procedure as comfortable for the patient as possible. I did not have to take any bowel clean out medicine,just no food or water after midnight the night before surgery. I only had an I V put in and then after I was asleep the catheter for my bladder was put in so I didn't feel that. The test for leakage was done while I was still under so no trying to drink stuff and have x-rays after surgery. I felt like my comfort was very important. My experience with him was wonderful!!!I must say that I tried to educate myself as much as possible beforehand,started vitamins,and walking 3 weeks in advance, and mentally and spiritually prepared myself for a lifechanging experience.
