John Maguire Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr Maguire is the midwest guru for open DS surgeries as well as RN and Lap Bands. He is a super kind man who cares tremendously about his patients. He even gives us his home number, which he actually picks up (I called him the first Saturday morning after I was released from the hospital around 8am, and we talked for a while!) He has done something like 3000 of these surgeries in the last 20 years and his team of doctors are all the very best. I highly recommend him!

First impressions is that he is a nice man.rnI haven't really talked too much to the surgeon. I've been communicating with his staff. I have done quite a bit of research on Dr. Maguire and I am comfortable with the fact that he has 30 years experience. I don't know what I least like about him. Patients should do their research before having surgery with any doctor. He does emphasize after care. He did go over all of the risks of surgery. I also research the risk before I made my decision. So far, I would rate him and his staff Excellent.

I THOUGHT DR. MAGUIRE WAS A VERY ELOQUENT MAN WHO SEEMD EXTREMELY WELL EDUCATED ON ALL WEIGHT LOSS SURGERIES. I'VE GROWN TO RESPECT HIM EVEN MORE DURING AND AFTER SURGERY. HIS OFFICE STAFF ARE EXTREMEL PROFESSIONAL AND THEY MAKE U FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE IN THE OFFICE. FUTURE PATIENTS SHOULD KNOW THIS DR. IS A VERY GOOD CHOICE BECAUSE HE IS A PIONEER IN HIS PRACTICE AND A WONDERFUL MAN. HE STRONGLY EMPASIZES AFTERCARE, SINCE I LIVE IN TOLEDO, HE SUGGEST THAT I STAYED IN DAYTON FOR TWO WEEKS FOLLOWING SURGERY IN CASE OF ANY COMPLICATIONS. HE INFORMED ME OF THE MANY RISKS INVOLVED WITH THE SURGERY INCLUDING THE\"D\" WORD.I RATE HIM A PERFECT 10 OVERALL. HE HAS EXCELLENT BEDSIDE MANNER AND SURGICAL COMPETENCE. IF I HAD TO DO IT OVER I'D CHOOSE DR. JOHN MAGUIRE.

rnrnrnRevision surgeon is Dr. Maguire. I really like him so far. he is very knowlegeable and has a lot of experience.rnrnMy impression of Dr. Wheeler is very good. He was thorough, and kind. I did not feel hurried at all. The staff was excellent.

My first impression of Dr Maguire was that he is experienced and dedicated in WLS. Dr. Maguire is dry and seems impersonal. My family is more the joking around type so this was a little uncomfortable at first but as I got to know Dr Maguire I relized he is a very nice person, he is just straight to the point. His work and dedication to his job is what impressed me the most. His office staff is very friendly and have helped me with concerns I have had. After care is very important. Not only was this stressed at my appointments prior to surgery it has been brought up at my post surgery appointmens as well. They will direct you towards group support meetings or what ever help you are looking for the hospital sends you home with a binder full of information from what you need to eat to what you need to take as far as vitamins and supplements. I would give Dr. Maguire a 10 out of 10. I am very happy with my choice of Doctor.

So far my experience has been a great one! Dr Maguires information session is very informative. It felt very personal and i would recommend it to everyone. He is a top notch surgeon, has 30 years experience, and other surgeons send their patients to him for revisions. I have complete confidence in his abilities!

Dr.Maguire is great. He really care about you as a person not just another patient. His staff is great and very carring they really take the time to get to know and you are not just a face to them. He realy stress how importent it is to have after care and you commit to after before your surgery. I would give him a 100% thumbs up he has been doing and fixing surgeries for a very long time and has a great bedside manner.

I chose Dr. John Maguire to do my surgery. I am sooo happy with my decision to choose him. He is very experienced and a well known, high spoken of surgeon. As I expected, he did a wonderful job on me and I couldn't be happier. I credit him for saving my life.

Dr. Maguire is reserved. He walks in and says any questions? He answers my questions. I felt safe in his hands and God's. I respect his knowledge about all the ins and outs of this surgery. His office staff is on time,caring, attentive, and helpful. They stress the importance of before and after care. They have you sign a contract about your follow up visit schedule. The risks are revealed up front.I think he is a grade a surgeon. He knew I had fears about the incision scar and made sure it was as small as possible. I admire and refer all of you to him if you are considering the surgery.

Dr. Maguire is a very kind, Christian man with many years of experience. The office staff and entire program staff are very supportive and encouraging. I would highly recommend the program at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.
