Dr. Leverton was very open and honest.
Was very concerned that any and all
questions I had were answered.
Very informative about her education
and how many surgeries she has done.
Staff was very nice. Aftercare was
emphasized and the structure of the
aftercare program reviewed.
A friend has been very happy with her
pre and post op under Dr. Leverton's
care.

I really like Dr. Leverton. She is itty bitty, and looks like she is about 18. She explained that she had not n=done many surgeries on her own but that by the time my surgery date came she would have performed 100's of these operations.

Dr. L was straight to the point and explained everything until I understood it. The office staff were really nice and I really loved their oversized chairs, doors and scale. Dr. L was very sure to make me aware of the life altering changes I would have to make in order to be successful in my weight loss. Major emphasis was placed on after care.

Dr. L explained all the risks and kind of scared me, but it was only the truth, She explained that I was in good health (considering my extra 100 pounds I've been carrying aroud for the past several years) and that she forsaw no major complications or problems.

At this point - pre-op one week, I would rate Dr. Leverton at a 9 (1-10 scale) I will know more after surgery.

Dr. L seemed to be genuinely concerned for me and my health issues. She had a great manner and was very much competent. I really liked her.

At this point I have nothing negative to say. I was apprehensive about getting approval because I was only 100 pounds overweight. My pre-op was this morning and all went well. The hospital in Wiley is up and running. The staff were curteous and walked me through chest x-rays, taking blood, gallbladder sonogram, and an EKG. I had to answer 100's of questions about my health, etc. They walked me through the procedure and what to expect. The respiratory therapist explained the importance of breathing treatments after surgery - sounded like it would be very painful - but I will practice my breathing. I don't think anyone can truly realize all the changes that they will have to make to their everyday eating and living habits. I don't think it will hit me until after the surgery.

Am hoping that all will be well for surgery and recovery.

I am having my very first meeting/consultation with Dr. Leverton on June 1st. I will update more after that!! I am totally siked!

Well, it is June 5th and I met with Dr. Leverton 5 days ago. I really really liked her. She answered all my questions that I had and did not ignore me like most doctors. I felt that she really cared. I am now in the beginning stages of insurance approval.
Hopefully that will not take too long!
I am ready now! :-)

6/23/01 - I met Dr. Leverton on June 1st. I
really really like her. She was very nice, informative
and willing to answer any and all questions.
The facility in which my surgery will be done
is located right beside her office in Wylie, TX.
It is brand new and opened in February '01.
Bariatric Surgery is the ONLY kind of surgery that they
do there. The whole office and atmosphere makes you
feel completely comfortable. I will let ya know when I get
my surgery date.

My first impression of Dr. Leverton was wonderful. I met her Feb. 1, 2001 for my consultation at the Bariatric Treatment Centers in Wylie. She was very knowledgeable and thorough. I never felt like she was impatient when I talked to her and she answered all of my questions, including the risks. She emphasizd aftercare and how important it was to follow specific guidelines. Her bedside manner and surgical competence were both excellent, and on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, she is an 11! I was approved for surgery by the middle of April, and I had surgery on May 7, 2001, which I consider to be the best day of my life so far. The morning of surgery Dr.Leverton came in and was very kind and caring and explained everything to me and my family. Everyone was immediately put at ease.
The surgery went great and my recovery was a lot easier than I thought it would be. The level of care at BTC is top-notch. The nurses were all so nice and caring. I have heard horror stories from people that have had it done at a regular hospital and the outcomes have not been good. At BTC you are never in the dark about anything and there is such an open door policy there that you feel comfortable and confident in your ability to start a new life for yourself.
In my opinion this is the best solution for obesity and BTC is the best place for it.
I am so glad that Dr. Leverton is my doctor...she truly is nicest person I have ever met. I am grateful to have her support towards my new life!!!! Thanks DR. L!!

Dr. Leverton is about mid 30's to early 40's. Her manner was concerned and caring. She made sure that I understood the procedure and answered all of my questions.
The staff is young, but courteous. I am unsure about the aftercare.I would rate her overall, an 8.
I think that both competence and bedside manner are equally important.

I saw Dr. Leverton the end of May. She was very polite, soft spoken, all-in-all seemed to be a very nice lady. She explained the surgery to me, answered all questions that we had. All the staff were nice. She explained the surgery in detail. She shows you on cards all the details. This is through Bariatric Treatment Centers and they have a one year aftercare program included in the price. Dr. Leverton said to expect 4 days in hospital. Solids after 6 wks. The first week is liquids, then you move up gradually each week. She seems very professional. But also very real, takes her time, it not judgmental. So far I like her very much. Will let you know more.

Dr. Julie Leverton is the BEST! I have never had a surgeon who cared so much and took such good care of their patients. She is always willing to listen and take the time to spend one-on-one with each of her patients. Her staff is also wonderful. They all go to the max on making sure that you are taken care of and that all of your needs are met. Each person who is involved in the care process is outstanding. Julie Leverton and the staff of Bariatric Care Centers of Wylie, Texas deserve a standing ovation, an A+. They are the tops in my book.

She spoke with me before surgery and told me about all of the pros and cons, the risks and etc. She answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable. She reduced my feeling of scaredness and made me confident that I was doing the right thing for me.

Her surgical skills are evident in my healing process. Her bedside skills were the best I've ever had.

I rate her 100+ - A+ - #1.

I had my initial consultation at the Bariatric Treatment Center of Texas on May 22, 2001. My first impression of Dr. Leverton was wow! She looked so young how can she possibly be the surgeon. I thought maybe she was just a nurse practioner or something. To my surprise this very petite, soft spoken lady introduced herself as Dr. Julie Leverton. I can't tell you how at ease she made me feel. She was so competent and explained things in simple, lay terms! She explained the surgery in great details and discussed aftercare, nutrition, ect....She spent about 30 minute with me doing this. I thought that was just so wonderful. Her staff is just awesome. As I was waiting for my appointment a patient had just had her second weigh in since surgery. She came out and told the office staff she had lost 57 pounds! The girls just went crazy with whoops and hollers of congrats for this woman. It brought tears to my eyes. Her nurse Shawntae was also a very good. She never once made me feel self conscious when she was weighing me in or when taking my medical history. I give Dr. Leverton and her staff an A Plus! I just pray my insurance will approve my surgery so that I can't let this wonderful woman work her magic!
