My first impression of Dr. Leverton was of a smart, confident person. She was impressive with her knowledge and ability to answer questions right away.
I've not had very many conversations with her yet, but as for now, I'm impressed.
Her office staff was informative and friendly.
What I liked least is that she seemed a little rushed, but I was scheduled to meet with another surgeon and I think she might have worked me in.
Future patients should know that she (and the other doctors there) are specially trained for gastric surgery. She is double board certified in general surgery and in colo/rectal surgery. She has performed the RNY procedure over 170 times as of this date.
She very clearly stated that aftercare was very important, keeping follow-up appointments, support groups, etc.
We talked about the risks of surgery. Being a nurse myself, we didn't talk extensively about it. After she explained the risks, she asked me if I had any more questions about that in particular.
i would rate her very good. I have a friend who had her RNY by Dr. Leverton and her experience was quite pleasant. I hope mine is as well.
Since I have not met with her other than my initial consultation, I'm not able to comment on her bedside manner..although, she seems very sweet.

dr leverton tells you exactly what she expects from you. she will tell you what she wants done before surgery will be considered. in my case i smoked and she will not do this surgery on anyone who smokes . i had my consultation with her on jan.8th2001 and i quit jan.10 2001. i smoked for 20 years so just the fact that i could quit made me feel better about this situatin. i do have will power. i quit cold turkey so i do need help with my weight.well tommarow i have the surgery so i will be able to better answer some of these questions next week. by the way it is may 8 2001 today. the place i am going to have this done is in wyle tx. it is a baratic hospital. i went last week for the pre op test and consultations. i met with the dietican, respitory therapist, had chest x-rays, sonogram, and was examined by an internest.they described what i should expect to go thru. they didnt sugar coat it. they told me the more i breath after surgery and get up the better i will be. they to;d me what to expect and asked what i expected. i will update this after my surgey.

I meet Dr. Leverton on February 5th, 2001 for my pre-op consultation.

My first impression of her was that she is EXTREMELY compassionate. She really loves her patients.

She explains everything thoroughly and answers any and all questions without making anyone feel like they are unecessary.

The entire staff at BTC treats their patients that way. I am so glad I went there.

Everything is centered around making the patients feel comfortable and keeping them healthy not only now, but for the future.

There was not one thing that I did not like about Dr. Leverton. After surgery she checked on me several times a day and the nurses and respiratory therapists were always checking on me.

BTC only does this surgery and Dr. Leverton is DOUBLE Board Certified to do this surgery. She is very soft-spoken and thorough. All the nurses and staff speak extremely highly of her an several of them are having the procedure.

BTC's aftercare program is one of the best I have seen. You have access to dietician's and the nursing staff and even the surgeon 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. Dr. Leverton prescribes medication to prevent ulcers and gallstones. The diet that BTC's patients is a little more conservative than most I have seen described, but they really emphasize healing after surgery.

While in the hospital, everyone from admitting to the housekeeping personnel treated me very well. We had one incident with a nurse that was not satisfactory and it was handled IMMEDIATELY by the hospital Administrator.

Everyone was so apologetic and more than made up for the bad experience with the one person.

Dr. Leverton was very open and honest about the risks involved with the procedure and shows a flip chart.

With the highest ranking being a 10, I would rank Dr. Leverton and my experience at BTC a 10 - honestly - they are really into their patients well-being. I had a migrane after surgery from being tense and one of the nurses rubbed my neck and shoulders while I was doing a breathing treatment. All of the nurses are very interested in pain management and stated that Dr. Leverton does not want her patients to be in pain or have any bad experiences while at BTC or associated with the operation.

I was so pleased the first time I saw my incision. I do not have any externam staples or stitches. Everything was done internally with steristrips on the outside which made my incision very clean without all the "dots" around it and no follow up removal. It is obvious that she took her time in both making the incision and closing it.

ALL of the nurses complement her precision and caution and the care she takes with her patiens. Her bedside manner is equally as wonderful. All of her patients are in the BEST of hands in my opinion.

** Please note that these are my opinions and views based on my personal experiences. I am making no statements to what others may experience.

I finally had a chance to meet Dr.Leverton on my surgery date, I had spoke with her over the phone before that. Dr.Leverton is wonderful, her bedside manner was awesome, she is totally concerned about your well being, how you are feeling physically and mentally. She relates to you.
Dr.Leverton is with BTC and they have a very structred aftercare program and she and her staff stresses aftercare constantly.
I would rate Dr.Leverton and her staff a 100% Awesome group. Their hospital just opened March 1st and they are still getting things situated in some aspects but other than that...They totally have their act together. GREAT JOB BTC!! And thank you so very much Dr.Leverton!!

She is great explained everything in great detail.
The office staff is great and always there to help you, they never leave you hanging.
The waiting list is too long, but it will be worth it.
Dr leverton is to the point and makes you think real hard and at the same time she's very caring.
She stresses making all the afthercare appts.,exercice and support groups to live a long and healthy new life.
The dr. explained all the risk in detail and made me weigh the odds against each other and it is better to have the surgery.
Great and caring.
She has great surgical competence and bedside manner. Would recommend her to anybody.

Will be back soon to update!

I first met Dr. Leverton in September. She is on the ball. She takes her time explaining everything with charts and flip cards. I knew alot about the surgery going in and asked some tough questions about other types of WLS (she does RNY) and she answered by getting up and drawing on the board and showing me the difrence then explaing what the results of each were.

I felt confident in her abilities as a surgeon. At that time she had not performed the surgery yet and was heading out the next week to assist on several. She did explain she has performed most/all parts of the surgery seperatly in the past, but not as a complete procedure. Again she is honest.

BTC took a while to get my insurance submited but I was aproved in Janurary 2001. I am now awaiting BTC to schedule a date. I drove by there hospital last week (Feb 3 2001) and the builfing is not open yet and all the furniture is not in (beds were in rooms though).

The staff at BTC is the best and the atmosphere there is great and suportive. They claim to have a substantial after care program with a guide book and support meetings (to be set up shortly).

My only complaint about BTC is that there hospital is not open yet (I like everyone else am waiting to make this change).

Dr. Leverton is wonderful! She is very compassionate and thorough. I felt comfortable with her immediately.

She is working through Bariatric Treatment Centers that just opened and bought the local hospital. The staff there is wonderful.

Dr. Leverton went over every aspect of the surgery, even drawing pictures. She told me what would be happening every step of the way and was very informative. The staff at the center won't leave you hanging, they are there for the long term, and stress that.

I would definitely recommend this location. I can't speak highly enough about everyone there.
